Beatbreak is a great entry point, and Time Stranger feels like the only game that can be recommended to people unfamiliar to Digimon instead of Digiautists. I think Cyber Sleuth is way too grindy. Time Stranger makes the grind more reasonable, and the evolutions being restricted by agent rank gives a natural enough level curve instead of letting people cheese the game super easily. I like how they removed minimum level and let stat requirements be a joke if you can game the personality system. Minimum level definitely was the biggest factor in the Digimon Story grind.

TS is no triple A but it has a way better presentation and cutscenes, also it presents the Digital World and digimons in general in a more exciting way to newfags, pokefags are so used to stale bread that something like Time Stranger feels like a breath of fresh air, all those creatures they've never seen before, the excentric aesthetic, the over the top plot, etc.

It's funny. I normally hate when Bamco does shit like this, part of the reason why I never touched Scarlet Nexus was because of the advertising and how dogshit the tie-in anime was.
But I ended up getting Time Stranger, and watching Beatbreak, and for some reason it feels better for me. Maybe it's the nostalgia or the fact neither was created with the other in mind and just so happened to release next to each other.

The problem isn't that it's episodic, it's that most of the episodic adventures were bland. The only episodes I enjoyed were the ones that actually acted like they were a part of a sequel to Xros Wars by following up on characters from back then or went full nostalgia pandering.
