Worse than just a cop-out it soured the ending for me. Especially when it was made by making Metsudo an omniscient being who orchestrated the whole thing from the start for shits and giggles. I think nothing can justify this shit.

It doesn't help that Lolong is kind of all over the place as far as fighters go. He doesn't really have a well-defined skill set or specialty and his choreography doesn't hardly tell you what martial art he uses. He supposedly uses Silat mixed with a bunch of "practical" moves, but he mostly just throws elbows and does his funny joint nonsense. Being a bit of an all-rounder is fine as long as there's something that actually feels distinct about it. Kuroki was basically just a karateka, but his impregnable defense, insane predictions, and signature move make him stand out.

It's just not a very satisfying end for Kazuo's story. It'd be one thing if Nogi chose to forgive his debt as a last second attempt to salvage his family's honor, but them going down together would have made Ohma's sacrifice less impactful.

It was largely left alone because Kazuo was choosing to set aside the old one-sided debt to focus on present. Nogi was stuck in the past and had put everything on the line for something that ultimately didn't matter to the other concerned party while Kazuo cared more about the new connection he had formed with Ohma. In a very clear way, Ohma was repeating the choices of Ichinoshin, but there was no pretense that he was being forced to do so and he was quite open about what it was doing to him. It wasn't a sacrifice for his employer, but for himself. Nogi was focused on the perceived debt while ignoring the wishes of the man actually fighting for them.

I honestly just choose to ignore that fact for how distasteful it is. Asura has some good moments in the ending, but the corporate side of things didn't measure up. I think you could argue that he was still engaged up through KvP, but that shortly afterward he was regretting a lot of his choices and, in trying to backtrack or fix things, lost the beat and fell into a malaise. Shen becoming a regular character most coincides with Sandro's change in writing, and you can see the signs of things going sour the moment he and Joji met.
I'd say the Berserker Bowl was where the worst habits started to emerge.

I think one of the earliest instances of someone in this thread noticing clear AI use was the chapter when Koga visited the Inside. At least by Shen's introduction, Sandro decided he was writing a parody. Sometimes I feel Sandro is hear lurking the threads with Google translate, I mean look at Waka's buff. We joke about how moves like Blast Core and God Glow just end up taking over the whole moveset and are needed to defeat enemies, then Waka improves himself by ditching the Blast Core for something more passive. Characters acknowledge in universe that some martial arts styles are most commonly used by jobbers. Luohan calls upon a shonen powerup in his match with Shen. Ramon loses because he summons an imaginary knife.

This where I'll defend the writing of Asura. They made it clear when it was Agito vs Gensai that Takakaze wasn't in this for himself and his participation and goals have never really been expanded on unlike every other executive who expressed their reasons and goals for showing up. Even a lot of the round 1 loser CEOs showed more ambition so his place in all this was conspicuous by the time things were winding down.

Yes, this still is stated pretty much at the end of Asura but it's sufficient to explain how Nogi got handed the win as he was shown to be the most invested in handling things. Even above Hayami, as Nogi was the one to ultimately thwarts the worst plot point in the story. There's no debt needed, the guy is shown to be chilling in America smoking peace pipes and stuff. He was never interested in the tournament.
