I See You, Aizawa-san!
It's spooky season, so take some spooky yandere ghost yuri ch29 (and 30 at some point).
The amnesiac manga that gives its readers amnesia is back with the shocking conclusion* to Honda vs Masaki.

Just pretend I've updated this with
>Hanamura Masaki: Honda's childhood friend who tried out for De:Lphinus. Bitter under the surface towards Honda. Strangely interested in Michi.

>PREVIOUSLY ON AIZAWA-SAN
>Attempting to prove she's not gay, Michi joined a gay love triangle (Honda & Masaki). This did not please her gay ghostwife (Aizawa) who got vacuumed into Michi's best friend's body (Kasumi) and decided the DV rate was looking a little low.
In middle school, Honda pushed dorky Masaki to become an idol with her. Honda failed early but Masaki made it to the final selection for De:Lphinus, Aizawa's group, flunking out after realizing she only cared about idols if she could duo with Honda. But Honda got jealous of her success and abandoned Masaki when she was bullied out of school. They sort-of made up with lingering bitterness Michi was dragged into. Trying to fix things, Michi agreed to meet Masaki in the nurse's office while Honda walked out again. And Masaki decided to do exactly what high school nurses offices are made for, thinking it would be good foreplay to tell Michi Honda always hated Aizawa before Aizawa hopped in with a steel chair.

Dorothy's taking another break between volumes so I'll be making another recap. Mostly to update the character chart, the known timeline, and pick up on those minor details that keep adding up. I think Masaki's subplot is pretty straightforward, at least after ch30, but I should probably speedrun that too.

She said she doesn't intend to take as long this time, but these breaks are so she can plot each new volume. And more so than most mangaka I get the feeling she writes the entire volume out, intended to be read as a whole. It's practically LN style rather than manga, where you're expected to remember little things chapter to chapter with few callbacks. I don't know how many yurifags are actively following a predominantly het ecchi mag like Comic Valkyrie but Aizawa always gets a big burst of JP discussion with each volume release, so it's not the worst strategy.

On that note another tactic Dorothy lifts from novels I rarely see manga attempting is the "firehose of information." Where each page is so packed with details you tend to overlook or underestimate how important some are. The orthodox approach in mystery manga is to shine a spotlight on every new clue, giving them isolated panels and effects so the audience won't miss it. And few juggle hundreds of ongoing unanswered questions. Here Dorothy will casually scatter across a cluttered page DeLphi's agency opening recruitment for a new idol unit and you might not consider the implications on a first read.

It's a really demanding manga but if you're going to go full conspiracy autism I don't think there's much yuri like it. Especially with its bipolar tone. And so far it feels like all the questions are congruent, seemingly matching up where you're always a few key pieces short. Of course I have the benefit of being forced to reread multiple times while translating.

Thanks for the chapter. As I've gotten more into reading yuri and yuri doujin over the years I notice that a lot of the translators on Dynasty and their Discord server care more about dumb shit like being super anal about typesetting rules and circlejerking before even considering the prospect of helping a mangaka shill their manga.

Because I like her internal conflict, instilled humanity vs monster nature that won't ever reasonably settle. You could question if it's even justified applying human morality to a monster, like Disneyfying predatory animals (though Miko got a liiittle too into it) but now centuries of repentance don't erase the guilt she's grown into. Her status as makeshift guardian doesn't enable her to do half as much as she'd like. In her mind she's always making up for failures rather than accepting the good she's done. Miko's an interesting pained protector character. She could have been a simple yaya but she's a lot more than that (besides fish x fox is superior). It's hard to dislike a selfless yet sharp-tongued genki girl. Plus her serpentine fox form is super sick. And mttk is my favorite hoshikuzu.

>Not enough arrows to Seta. He may be the token boy, but all of the school crew would act rally to him if he was in trouble.
I have to do it for the funnies, but I really do think he's a great male yuri character. Even if he was used for a slight romantic misunderstanding, he's comically adamant about not being interested. His minor role as supernaturally tone deaf drama queen makes him perfect for addressing spooky topics sometimes when the others are too restricted by plot. You can tell Dorothy respects him despite being a gag character.

Much appreciated. And I also mean that in the sense that I'll miss it if it's gone, compared to some of the others I'm reading where I'll just shrug.

I don't discuss it as much as Arisaku, but horror has generally been consume not discuss for me. Because well, horror is horror partly because it's arbitrary for the most part. Fun to read, but I rarely find them providing fodder for discussion.

I think it's a pretty settled question. She chooses to live as a human and generally avoids using her supernatural abilities to solve human problems. Of course, when rogue youkai show up, she solves those as a youkai would, but her whole point is not only acting as a sort of detached guardian deity, but integrating herself into society to the fullest extent possible. Really, Shiori's blood seasoning Hinako is the only real spanner in the works. That was kind of the point of the Tsubaki arc: Miko is free to be human purely based on her own choices. Certainly, aspects of her personality are instilled based on guilt, and Hinako's family does appear to be a particular sore spot even if they traveled outside the domain of her protection, but beyond that, her goody-two-shoes nature isn't merely a form of atonement. She's grown to see humanity for what it is, the good and the wicked, and chosen for herself to embody the ideals of what she's come to appreciate in humanity. She's landbound to a certain extent, but within those confines, her actions are purely based on her own choices. Sure, atonement is part of it, but her sense of love outweighs even that. Were she unbound, her personality would be no different.

The funny thing is, she has all the markings of a character I ought to dislike: she's a Yaya, flat, short, twintailed, can never say no, gyaru, and worst of all a tsundere. And yet she's written so endearingly I can't help but support her. There are a few aspects that play into this. Firstly, as I was reading the manga as it was realeasing, it seemed to me the author had done too good of a job making Shiori seem like a monster, and Hinako was little better, being so defined by a rather realistic, non-romanticized depiction of depression. Miko above all was the human element in the story. Granted, subsequent plot twists did put more stock in Shiori's character. It also helps that she has zero tsun towards Hinako, and all of it is directed at fish instead, who deserves it and more. She's also gracefully accepted that Shiori can offer Hinako something she herself cannot, and instead of trying to leverage Shiori's shortcomings to sabatoge her run in the Hinakob owl, she sets her straight on what's best for Hinako.

And while Hinako is on board with fish x fox, Miko really deserves someone better. Both Hinako and Shiori are selfish hitodenashi and for all Miko has done, she deserves someone who isn't a total project.

Matataki was the first major shakeup to the expected Kirara formula, but the Bad Alien arc was the highest degree of dramatic gayngst and really elevated the manga for me. Visual design aside, they're nothing alike.

That wrapped up nice and clean. Micchi unlocked her Shonen hero powers to beat people into being friends. Kasumi's brief tandem-wrestling career with Aizawa is giving her special eyes. And we finally see the face of the antagonist who conveniently not Cronenberg-ing at the moment.

And likely the person who will get Aizawa to move on after all is said and done.

The break sucks but at least the story seems like it will end fully-cooked. I hope.

Thanks as always.

I'm not sure Miho feels the same way about the girl who tried to give her a premature viking funeral. She wasn't all that broken up about it when she died But i sure was

Same. Conversely, I didn't care for the President getting shivved despite the background story with the Vice Prez.

This probably isn't the first time this has happened to Masaki, but it may be the first time she didn't know why it was happening.

This and the next page had me fucking howling. One of the driest, straight drama chapters just to end up on a played for laughs attempted homicide
