I think the concept is Megumi is good but what sours on a lot of people is that he never went past his trauma victim phase in the end. At the end of the original story. He is still on a victim mindset and will likely still use Mahoraga en command against a low tier enemy because he didn't bother to train his technique.
There's one thing about being okay that he's not getting strong powerlevel wise. Not developing his character arc is another thing

Unless Mappa pulls a super animation at the level of OPM season 1, which i highly doubt , this season will be the downfall of JJK by how atrocious the pacing is.

I really don't get why people just want the exact same Chad character who can do everything with no fear in their eyes. Because try telling me how that went for a majority of isekais who go for that character trope. In contrast, Subaru is still a very much liked character despite how much viewers hates him because of him defying the typical isekai MC like how Megumi defies every shonen rival/deuteragonist trope in the book
