It's a comfy show with cute girls that are, infact, doing cute things
The two main girls have very good chemistry and the rest of them mesh well with the group, too. It's fun to watch them slowly come together over time and because at the start they're kinda separated and doing their own thing. The visuals and music are extremely good. Constant nature shots are very well made and the soundtrack will have you feeling warm and fuzzy
It's peak in the iyashikei genre
Oh yeah, and the girls are CUTE!

I can't believe I didn't notice a Yuru Camp thread for 17 hours. I'm not rewatching it yet because I'm rewatching NNB and mono. Will most likely do so after those two are finished (or at least after NNB S1 is done).

I do occasionally rewatch my favorite Yuru Camp moment though, which is S2E04 from 9:54 to 13:11 when my adorable daughteru runs excitedly to Minobu station and discovers the "joy" of loneliness. There's something about basking in emptiness in the coldness of rural Japan. God she's such a good girl. And I miss Minobu and I can't believe I forgot to take more pictures inside the station and go through the tunnel to the middle platform.

Has your opinion on the three seasons changed after rewatching them?

I came to appreciate S2 a bit more after a rewatch and realized that it was still basically the same thing as S1 and just as (or almost as) good, though the vibe started to change noticeably with the Izu arc. It felt much more touristy and that seems to be the new normal since then (Oigawa, Gunma). My view on S3 hasn't changed though. It was too much of a departure from what made Yuru Camp good that I still can't get over it (new and lazier artstyle, same touristy grand trips, soundtrack also felt different). The hanami drive episode and the final episode were the only parts that felt like classic Yuru Camp.

The OVA was a return to form, though I still preferred the old artstyle and studio.

Very nice
That's one of my favorite scenes, too
It's hard for me to pin down a favorite scene, but it's definitely one with Rin and Nadeshiko alone. Perhaps the one at the end of s2 where they meet eachother on the road on the way back home. At that point Nadeshiko had immersed herself in solo camping and found the fun in that, and Shimarin had opened up to group camping and found that she enjoyed it, too. It's like they both grew as people because of becoming friends, which I think is very sweet and wholesome. As far as a favorite campsite, I think it's the early s1 one where they first went together by the lake in the fall. When they met chugsy for the first time. I forget what the names of these places are, but the scenery of the forest in autumn colors and the lake is just something that always gets me comfy. Also the first sighting of the secret blanket society
Also, I'm on my first watchthrough of NNB right now
Tonight or tomorrow I'm going to watch the movie, then I'm on to nonstop. I absolutely love it! Kaede best girl

While I agree that s3 is not as good as the first two, I'm not as harsh of a critic on it as everybody else, and upon multiple rewatches, my criticisms become less pronounced. But whatever you think about it, I probably agree, just to a lesser extent because I've learned to embrace the good in more than being upset about the bad. The girls are still cute, they still camp, and they still are Yuru. Simple as

That's a good one too. It was quite refreshing to get a scene with a good dose of melancholy in Yuru Camp.

>I think it's the early s1 one where they first went together by the lake in the fall
That's definitely Lake Shibire (or Shibireko). I loved that campsite too. The music was great, and I loved how they got closer at the end. Nadeshiko waving at Shimarin from her boat while the piano music resolved to the final chord was just chef's kiss. My #1 favorite campsite (and scene) has got to be Lake Motosu though. That moment when they finally saw Mt. Fuji was nothing short of a CGDCT masterpiece.

Enjoy NNB! The first time will never happen again, so savor it as much as you can.

There are so many memorable moments in Yuru Camp that it's hard to single out any one particular so let me mention one that is less mentioned. When Rin discovers the sight at Takabocchi. Such a heartwarming scene about finding something you didn't expect but was great nonetheless. An understated scene accompanied by fantastic music. It helps that it becomes the very spot for one of the most memorable moments in Yuru Camp.

Those grand scenic shots and everything leading up to them were the best. I wonder they're almost non-existent in Yuru Camp and mono nowadays. The last one with a proper buildup that I can think of was the double new year's sunrise in S2 and maybe the night view during Nadeshiko's solo camp.

Aside from a few Ghiblis, and going off memory, I've currently shown them Kemono Friends, Azumanga Daioh, Yuru Camp, SpyXFamily, A Place Further Than the Universe, Do It Yourself, Delicious In Dungeon, The Aquatope on White Sand, and Let's Make a Mug Cup. We're currently watching Isekai Izakaya.

As for what they're into, it depends somewhat, but I've been mostly leaning towards SoL and iyashikei shows, if it weren't obvious. Mom's not big on gratuitous violence or copious profanities, so I try to steer away from those (for example, she didn't care for Cowboy Bebop because of the violence). I think she only tolerated Delicious in Dungeon because my sister was really into it. She really got into SpyXFamily, though, in spite of the occasional murders in that show.

Frieren is on my to-watch list. I've seen about 10 episodes of it so far, but I want to make sure it doesn't get too violent as it goes on.
K-ON, GuP, and Bocchi are also on my to-watch list, though I haven't watched any of them so far, so I don't know how well the family would like them.
Haven't really heard much about Sora no Woto, though, but hey, I'll give it a look.

After Isekai Izakaya, we might watch Apothecary Diaries. I've already seen all of it, and my sister's seen a bit and she liked it, so we'll see. Still not sure if Mom would be alright with the assorted innuendo in there, but it'd probably be alright. I will certainly do my best. We're also waiting on the third season of SpyXFamily to finish so we can watch that, as well as season 2 of Delicious in Dungeon whenever Trigger finally gets that finished.

I've also got some other shows on my to-watch list that I think they might enjoy, like Aria the Animation, Restaurant to Another World, Hakumei and Mikochi, Food for the Soul, Fluffy Paradise, Minami-Ke, GJ Club, and maybe Silent Witch, but I've gotta give them all at least a partial watch before I decide whether or not to show them. They might also like Ruri Rocks and MaiDragon if they can get past the fanservice. possibly.

It's a bit of a shame there's not many aquatic-themed shows out there that don't lean heavy on the fanservice. Mom's big on the ocean and aqua life and such. That's why I ended up showing them Aquatope on White Sand, even though I think we all had somewhat mixed feelings on it in the end.

I agree with you about aquatic themed shows.
There's nagi no asu kara (a lull in the sea) which you guys might enjoy, but if your reception to aquatope was mixed, then so will be your reception to nagi-asu. It's the same studio and a very similar audience reaction despite the different premise. It could be right up your alley though. But overall, true
There arent enough. I have a few concepts that I play around with
>cgdct set in a world similar to GuP, except they partake in 17th century naval battles instead of tank fights. Full on nautical history autism.
>cgdct set similarly on a ship, only less action and more SoL focued as each of them travel together aboard the whaling or merchant or pirate ship
>basically master and commander but with cute anime girls
>finally, a full on anime adaption of Moby Dick, directly
I have one more that's the most fleshed out about a sci-fi/fantasy aquarium as well

>semi distant future earf

>these portals connected the oceans of various planets, and all sorts of ayy lmao sea creatures flowed in
>the portals are obviously two-way, so earth's ocean creatures also flowed into the other oceans
>basically the entire ecosystem was thrown into dissaray because now there are a dozen or so oceans all joined into one super ocean
>there are no "sentient" ayy lmaos on these planets as far as humans have observed
>anyways, after decades of this mix, ocean study became an extraordinarily popular feild, surpassing space exploration due to literally being able to skip the space part and visit other planets
>prologue of the show is MC as a young girl visiting the largest Aquascape and sanctuary in Japan. She sees all sorts of fantastic creatures and falls in love with the oceans. Main hook is a giant sea dragon.
>fast forward xx years, MC is now a marine biologist who just got a job at this same aquarium. Her role is to study the ecosystems and try to help stabalize any places that are in trouble, making sure as few species, ayy lmao or otherwise, go extinct due to invasion mechanics

Normally, she's all silly and baka in their interactions, but she reveals a strong, centered, and calm demenor as she leads the expedition through various dangers, surprising her friends with her competency and leadership)
>shy and smart and hardworking girl in the marketing department who's goal it is to make sure the aquascape thrives
>eccentric young and rich artist who is a major patron of the aquascape, doesn't actually work there, but is given free range across the place. She draws, paints, takes photos, etc. Of sea creatures (free publicity for the 'scape) to further her own career and her love of the oceans and art
>some arcs include
>MC helping caretaker girl take care of injured ayy lmaos
>MC showing artist girl the most rare and unique fishes theyve found
>fren group going on expedition, as mentioned before
>the reward for this dangerous arc is a beach episode literally on another planet, where they decide will be a landing site for the next human colony
>aquarium episode

Thoughts on the live action adaptation? So far I've only seen the first 3 episodes but I'm surprised at how faithful it tries to be the anime. I liked see the same food they eat in the anime irl and them shooting on location (i assume) in the same places where the anime took place. Casting is pretty nice too, though the 3d girls are definitely a bit older than their canonical ages and can't compare to their 2d counterparts in cuteness though it does seems like they tried.

I enjoyed it for the scenery porn and seeing the real life locations kind of as a travel show and to prep myself for when I would actually visit the locations. S2 got a bit worse because the seasons didn't match and there were some obvious digital alterations like adding snow when it's obvious that it wasn't filmed in winter and superimposing a clear and snow-capped Mt. Fuji. Casting could've been better - Nadeshiko was basically a big-titted gravure idol who pretended so hard to act cute, Rin was too pretty, not tomboy enough, and too autistic (she only needed to be dorky), and Ena was too plain/not cute enough. The other two were good though - I thought Aoi was really cute (minus the big breasts) and Chiaki's dorkiness was spot on.

>cook something
>talk about menial shit ie i got a job or their next camping trip
>sit around looking at the landscape for a while
>episode ends, they're at school planning their next trip

It got really boring after the first time, in any other CGDCT series there's at least some sort of conflict or exploration of a character, here the girls are all nice moe blobs except the token introvert who opens up a little.

Teenagehood is when you think shonen is the real shit
Adulthood is understanding that Iyashikei is peak
The genre is pretty wide, too, and you can find stuff that borders on it while also being darker in tone, like Girl's Last Tour. Also, to say a little more about some of my previous mentions without spoiling things, mostly cause I just want to talk about them, Sora No Woto is extremely good, very comfy show with a fun premise and great characters. There is an underlying dark or more serious tone which comes up towards the end, but it's overall a show full of hope and happiness that shines above the darkness it presents. That's reading quite deep into it though. Basically I cried at the end (we call cried) because of how BEAUTIFUL it is
Girls Und Panzer is one of the most FUN shows you'll ever watch. There is "violence" in a way, but it's moreso action because the girls are all partaking in tank battles, but it's all presented as a sport instead of actual war, no one gets seriously harmed and light spoiler all the competing girls end up becoming friends, too, after they compete against eachother it's also a very wholesome show when you look at it as a whole package. There is a light amount of fanservice, but those are usually in OVAs that are not consequential to the main plot, and it never goes beyond the girls just in general being drawn as attractive and sexy. During the climax of certain battles, I was literally standing up and dabbing while basedfacing over how FUCKING COOL it all way. It's so much fun!
I've seen pleanty comfy shows so far, but even still I feel I have barely scratched the surface in terms of the sheer depth of the genre and am always excited to watch more and more

I've watched a bit of Girls Last Tour, but I'm not sure how the family would react to it, and I'd definitely want to watch the whole thing before I'd commit to showing it to them. Post-apoc is a bit out of the usual ballpark for them, outside of Kemono Friends, and there it was mostly just in the background.
I've heard GuP is just a fun show overall, so it's been on my radar for a while. Minor fanservice is typically fine, there wasn't any issue (at least not that they mentioned) with the brief bits of skin shown in Yuru Camp or Dungeon Meshi and the like. It's kinda why I feel like Mom would probably be fine with Apothecary Diaries, since it's mostly just innuendo there and not much fanservice outside of a few bouncy courtesans.
I've seen a couple episodes of CITY so far, and that one seems pretty good too. I just want to hold off watching more til I buckle down and finish watching all of Nichijou. I tend to get like halfway through and then put it down for ages, and then start from the beginning when I try rewatching it.

Family and I watched both seasons, it's cute. Practically an advertisement for the town it takes place in, but the girls are fun and there's some neat pottery and pottery techniques shown off along the way, if that's your thing. The torrent I found for it also has specials where the voice actresses for the four main girls go around the town the show takes place in and basically do more advertising, though I didn't watch too many of those.

Yep! We try our best for our public facing gear, but we use our tents to hide our non-historical gear, such as coolers, musket maintenance tools, spare clothes, etc.
For example, here's my tent for that weekend: it looks pretty historic, but I actually have a cot underneath those blankets, and was hiding my other gear under that. I've done plenty of sleeping on the ground/by the fire this year, but wanted something more secure, since we did a Thursday-Sunday set-up for that event. I also do have a cooler but, it's disguised as a wooden chest, and we used it as a seat for most of the weekend--as we were cracking open beers around the campfire after hours.
Other people don't care for their tents' presentation as much as I do, and freely have their modern camping stuff strewn about, but we try to at least be period for the public. We had four rows of tents, with our mess/cooking tent set up on the far left of the second picture, as we needed our campfire to be separate from our canvas, and we mostly had period food for the weekend
>>283587443

I wasn't the cook, but I provided sandwich portions, apples, grapes, and whiskey ration
For dinners we had pork stew and stuffed pepper stew (ahistoric), and for breakfasts we had eggs, johnny cakes, and leftover stews
