I guess I agree, that these shows are not as deep as something you would read in a literature class. But they definitely are deeper than most TV shows and modern animanga. And also what counts as "depth", is it how hard a piece of work is to understand or is it the depth of the subject matter that the piece is talking about itself. Because honestly things like Shakespeare's Hamlet have pretty overrated depth. I feel like most of Shakespeare's depth comes from it being old english that is refused to be translated rather than it actually being deep. When you examine it on the depth of its content rather than its vocabulary. It is honestly not that deep.
