Yeah, been doing that for the last two days. Not proud to admit it, but I've been tracing a few drawings I like to get a feeling of how the pen works and what I can do with Ibis Paint. Trying to make it at least worthwhile since... it's still tracing. The pen feels amazing though. The best one I've tried by miles

When you're just starting out, drawing medium doesn't really matter imo. You'll just be learning the basics, use whatever is the most comfortable for you.

Don't know much about Ibis, so can't help you there

As you'll be a character artist, learning anatomy should be your main priority, There's a series on youtube by Proko that I'd suggest

Rather than tracing, try to redraw real life references. That way you're not recreating other artist's mistakes

Idk what a group mentorship thing is, but getting good genuine critique from discord artists is hella rare, so best of luck there

Drawing is quite an uphill battle, keep at it and in 2 years, you might be decent

Oh and learn construction methods, don't start with the final lines
