Am I a failure for working retail?
>>33203759 (OP)if it's in somewhere in america or europe you are better off than 90% of people
>>33203759 (OP)At least you have a job
If your living standards aren't high then it's fine. Especially if you have roommates or rent a room
>>33203759 (OP)You're a failure if you have no plans to move on and get ahead
>>33203759 (OP)no its honestly the reality for most people
>>33203759 (OP)The entire country is failing
Nah. 2025, it's hard to get a career job let alone a bullshit one. Even getting a girlfriend is a task that takes some kind of luck and skill.
>>33203759 (OP)i would've said yea, but considering i just recently quit my job and all i have is door dash, now. you' might as well be a giga chad compared to me.
>>33204848Greentext us your story anon
Why'd you quit?
>>33204032I was able to do it by working while doing my bachelors degree.
>>33204852its not an interesting story and is something that was years in the making. it was a job in a warehouse where i was doing back breaking manual labor. i'm the smallest guy by far on the job (5'4 110 lbs was 98 lbs when i first started working). yet, i'm lifting the heaviest shit on average, and being rushed and constantly harassed by supervisors to not only go faster, but to do it in a way that "keeps the premises neat and tidy". i was threatened by a senior manager with termination, so i decided to just fuck off on my own. i want to go to college, anyway. see if i can try my hand at building some relationships and connections and getting a better job that way.

How much were you making?

>>33204983just 21 an hour. and it was part time, and they were even trying to skimp us on the few hours a part timer works. i was making less than $500 a week. i can make more than that door dashing even when accounting for fuel cost. so, i decided to just quit and rethink my plans.
post unemployment depression set in, but all hope is not lost.
No not really. I used to think so too since I had a pretty good job after graduating.
It's only when you a) worked in retail and dealt with the shit, b) know someone who lost their job or went through financial hardships and is working in retail [i.e. you, your parents, friends, etc.], that you realize, it doesn't really matter. Shit can happen so fast, you can lose your job, you lose your savings on a shit investment or a business scam, it doesn't really matter how you earn your money, as long as you're working hard for it.
Anyone who at least tries to work - even if they aren't ambitious about it - or using a retail job as a stepping stone for something better, is respectable and way better than being someone unemployed or someone being unemployed and exploiting govt. benefits.
If you feel like a failure working in retail, try to save up money and find something better to do.
>>33203759 (OP)Nah. Somebody has to do it and stocking the shelves of stores is unironically pretty valuable to society.
