I have been reading the book of Daniel and the book of Revelation recently and was wondering what the correct way to interpret eschatology was. I read some commentaries with wildly varying views on it. Some people say the bible prophecy was all fulfilled in A.D. 70 when the temple was destroyed and the antichrist identified in the new testament was Caesar Nero. Others say that it is talking about a specific individual who will come to power over some sort of one-world government in an obviously still unfulfilled prophecy that will require another Jewish temple in Jerusalem. What do you think?

i don't think religion has the answers you're looking for. you should try to find control elsewhere

the prophesies were focused on empires and institutions that no longer exist and it was very obvious they were talking about them back them but since they fell without major if any jewish or christian intervention people who believed them tried to say the names are allegoric and it's still bound to happen in the future
once you read the book with a history book next to you and identify who are they talking about it's like any other end of the world failed prophesy.

Allowing people to have their own interpretation of holy texts was the most retarded idea to come out of the reformation, which led to absolute imbilicities like this post>>33206189 (OP)

Nero was the leader of a one world government. Outside of it was only savages. Idk if it helps or hurts but it was easy, back in the day. To write history after the fact and backdate the writing, to emphasise a point.

>Some people say the Bible prophecy was all fulfilled in A.D. 70
Who are 'some people'? If the source is from protestant commentators, their interpretation isn't worth anything.

>The antichrist identified in the new testament was Caeser Nero
Incorrect. Nero was not an Antichrist or even *the* Antichrist; he was against Christianity, yes, but that's not what it means to be antichrist. An Antichrist is a counterfeit Christ. Someone who appears as Christ-like, who promises salvation only to misdirect in service of Satan.

The only biblical relevance Nero has is in the number 666, which is not the number for the antichrist or even the devil. It's Hebrew numerical significance is it spells out 'Nero' in gematria, a type of way to code Hebrew texts by assigning numbers to lettering.

This was John the Exile's way to warn early readers of Nero tactfully, as any book professing against Nero would be confiscated and the owners killed.

The Antichrist has not yet come, and no one knows when. The Bible also tells you that no-one knows the date or the hour. Anyone who claims to know when is a heretic by default.

>wasting brainpower on old meaningless bullshit written by men who had no clue about the universe
btw the real Jesus was most likely a preacher of the apocalypse which he thought would happen during his lifetime or soon after. The antichrist is useless and meaningless as a concept.

Leave it at that and move onto more interesting/fun/productive hobbies. Like finding good spots for filming women when they take showers for instance.

Every time. It's like they can't help themselves.

Jesus said he came to fulfil the law and said that someone standing in the room would not taste death before the coming of the son of man, allegedly. Everything is pretty much in the bible.
Matt 5and 16, first place I found those.
Not OP.
