Is it easy being a muslim in the USA?

I live close to a mosque and will be moving closer to it pretty soon because I love the area. I've been to it a few times and really like the people and Islamic theology. I once almost took shahada but some pakistani guy freaked me out that day and I couldn't do it.

I'm still not set in stone. I also have to consider my atheist gf and i'm in the American south. Can anyone speak from experience Muslim or not?

I was raised in a Muslim household and it's the most boring strictest religion out of the Abrahamic religions. There's more infighting with different sects and Islamic schools of thought. Im a White muslim and I can't speak for the rest but the brown/Arab ones are generally more pissed off than Asian/slavic Muslims, but I guess that's more or less a cultural thing. You'd have to learn to speak Arabic at some point if you're really serious about it and you can't drink (most Muslims still do).

I'm not muslim but if you're not wearing a turban or a hijab or you don't "dress" muslim then no one can truly tell you're muslim and will pass you off as any other citizen (that is if you're not middle-eastern (in appearance))
