I really want to leave a positive legacy. I feel like I canโ€™t let all the effort my family, especially my mom, poured into me go to waste.
I know Iโ€™m destined for great things.
Should I be worried about the dangerous parts of the job? I also really, really donโ€™t want to be on the news for shooting a 16 year old or something.

It's a hard job with long hours but they really need women of color on the force. You will spend a lot of time telling retards not to be retarded, but then you'll save a teenager or a battered woman and it's all worth it. Focus on your training, find ways to destress and divorce your work self from civilian self, and you'll be OK. The only people who will look down on you are criminals. Everyone else will respect the hell out of you!

You probably won't be put on a dangerous beat at first, and as a woman I doubt you'll ever get put on the absolute worst ones.
If you can deal with the patronizing undertones, you may likely get fast tracked for a few promotions as a black woman to make the department look good if you can make good decisions.

Hours are going to suck though.

Oh, will most people respect me? I think only a retarded person would mistake the kindness they are shown in uniform for something genuine.
Also, I really want to stop child predators because as a little girl I was molested. Everyone told me it was a false memory except for my mom. I really want to get to the bottom of stuff like that.

People know it's your job, but they know it's a hard job that requires training and effort. That's why they respect police. There's specialized investigations units that handle predators, child abuse and other sensitive crimes. It takes extra training but you might want to look into it.

I won't read adv meme mashup threads (black, woman, cop, choice of career). Take it easy with the "creative writing" or it becomes obvious.

If you want to be involved in criminal justice, instead of becoming a cop become an attorney. You will make a far greater contribution to a positive legacy, and you wont be out on the street with a gun knocking around poor mentally ill people.

>destined for great things
Cop here. Not being a dick but most likely you're not gonna do "great things" unless you become a detective or join a task force. That's not hard, but be ready for your patrol years to suck. LOTS of women become officers and expect to make detectives in their first year.
>dangerous part
Never forget the dangerous part, but do remember that not everyone is a scumfuck.
>be on the news for shooting a 16 year old
Well, you're gonna be a public official if you become a cop. You can get on the news or be gossipped about for all kinds of shit. You MAY encounter a 16 year old who decides he's a thug and grabs a gun during a traffic stop. He MIGHT not shoot you with it. He MIGHT be a Gen Z tablet goblin whose brain didn't develop an empathy center correctly and put a structurally superfluous new shithole in your lower belly. Whether or not you get in a gunfight is almost never your choice.

>stop child predators
Noble. But remember that you're probably not going to catch any molesters until they've already molested, and unfortunately there's a good chance that they'll do quite a bit of it before someone finally speaks up. It's still righteous to put them away, but remember you most likely won't catch them in the act

get your fitness up then. I went to a state trooper academy and got the fitness award that they have. Those scores are the bare minimum for the FBI, from my understanding.
