but should i apologize to him?

i came to ask him a question about a game he's good at (which i'm playing) and he didn't know, so he googled it, and the first result was a reddit thread. he opened it and i got my answer, but i also saw he had an account (and its name in the corner). 5 mins later i looked his account on reddit, just morbidly curious expecting to see him commenting on porn posts or something since the site is known for that kind of stuff.

but instead what i saw was just one post 3 months ago, seemed like a meme post he made on a game subreddit. i feel so bad about having expected to see something "bad" when what i actually saw was harmless and cute (in the post he was mad at an update of the game it seemed like and it was a very sarcastic post). not that i would've gotten mad if he had commented on porn posts or something bc i was just curious when i saw his username. but i still feel like i invaded on his privacy a bit.

I think the guilt you're feeling right now is enough.
If you really wouldn't have cared if you found comments on porn, he may not believe you if you tell him the whole story, including that you wouldn't have cared. It'll just sound suspicious. Defensive, even.

So if you're going to apologize, just apologize for looking up his account, and looking at the comments. Say what you said here, that you "still feel like i invaded on his privacy a bit.", and that you feel a need to apologize.

You did invade his privacy, but you weren't being a dick. You were just curious. I'm sure he'll be cool with it, man.

Tell him you stalked his account out of curiosity. Apologise and tell him you feel guilty because you realise it was a violation of his privacy.
He might not have a problem with it, but he'll probably appreciate the fact that you wanted to apologise and show respect because YOU think it was wrong.

If you respect his privacy, you should warn him that you know about his account. That way, if he ever does want to post about anonymous shit, he knows not to use that account.

An ex once stalked my 'anonymous' online accounts when I was quietly dealing with severe depression. I used it to vent about shit that I felt was too intimate or embarrassing to talk to him about. He read it all for years. I only found out about it when he mocked me mid-argument by quoting one of my old posts. Never felt so fucking betrayed in my entire life, man. Gave me long-term mistrust of everyone close to me.
For fuck's sakes, if nothing else, I implore you to at least WARN the poor bastard. He might not use the account for private shit now, but if he ever does, and he doesn't realise that you know his account name, he's going to be fucking heartbroken to realise you might have been secretly reading it all along. He'll be extremely paranoid about it. Let the fella know.

You could just say "Hey, I checked your account to see what makes you horny but I couldn't figure it out. What makes you want someone?"
