Does anyone pay for Amazon Music or Spotify or anything? Why? All this music is available for free and more on Youtube for free. Trying to understand.

I use youtube music because I don't like ads
it comes with premium so I don't get ads on videos either
I drive a lot and I love my playlists so having them ruined by ads in the middle just ruins it
also... I'm not poor. The price they charge you is nothing, I've given more than that to dudes asking for money in the streets many times.

For the average person not using an adblocker, both YouTube and Spotify are free with ads, thus equal options. But Spotify is a single-purpose application made for music and so it's more satisfying to sort through libraries and make playlists on there, plus there's no shitty rips or music videos with 2 minutes of fluff before the song like on YouTube. Actually, most people didn't think through it that far, they just were marketed to, tried Spotify, and then kept using it because it works.

If you want to put in more effort to sift through some junk, YouTube is the best option since there is a lot of unreleased, unofficial, remixed, and non-commercial music on there. The highest return is downloading those YouTube-exclusive songs and mixing them with your offline collection of high quality pirated music but I've never bothered with that.

I pay for Spotify but I'm on a family plan and I split the cost with friends. I listen to music a lot since I work graveyard shifts so it's worth it to me. I eventually want to pivot and set up a media server though. My pirated library sounds a lot better than my Spotify slop.

I almost fell for this shill.
Youtube (video) premium comes with music premium. Not the other way around.

I've interacted with some hardcore soulseek users. If anything they are the one fucked in the head. Legit psychos.
There are so many ways to get high quality music nowadays, no need to interact with those assholes.
