I only come here, specifically to this board once a week or so, post 2-3 times, all of my posts are about leaving this place and the internet in general.

in 2024 I had a screentime of 12 hours, now it's 1 hour and most of it is youtube music, my life is so much better you can't imagine, this place is hell but I see /adv/ as the gateway out of the internet and into real life.

It wasn't too late for me when I was 25 so I'm guessing it's not late for you, you are only 5 years older.

leave this place, leave reddit, only visit forums or use the internet for practical tutorial purpusoses (ex: planning out a diet, learning to build a shelf), just stop consooming useless internet bullshit.

even if you are lonely and have no money to do anything, stare at the wall, sit with your toughts, go for a walk, meditate, I'm telling you nothing is worse than letting your brain rot here, leave.

my main advice is that you need to prepare for the pain that will come.

no happy well adjusted person uses their phone or computer so much, you are running away from something, from thinking about your life and decisions, you want to be distracted because you are afraid of your own toughts.

you need to take the leap and accept is going to suck at first, you can find perspective in knowing that at least it's not drug withdrawals, but you will suffer anyway.

the good part is after your suffering passes you have newfound clarity.

you start by shutting off your screen and sitting with your toughts, then it's like a game, how much time can you bear without your screen? do anything in between to get some more time without your screen, cook, clean, do pushups, go for a walk, anything to buy you one more hour.
