Is this a bad hairline at 26 y/o? Iโ€™m about to start more advanced anti-balding treatments, including dut, oral min, and derma rolling. Do you think itโ€™s warranted?

Dht suppression (dut and fin) actually lowers risk of low grade prostrate cancer

90% of balding is genetic. Next time around, choose your great-grandparents more wisely

You're definitely balding but you don't need all that. Try dut alone for a year then reevaluate I was worse than that and now it looks much better.

Also don't ask this shit here average person has brain damage and is scared of their own shadow speak to a doctor or professional about it but they will say the same thing first line treatment is finasteride or dutasteride.

What is your dosage for dut? I was doing very low dosage of fin but have now decided to add dut and oral min

0.5 mg (the standard dose for dutasteride) though I was still getting regrowth on finasteride when I switched just wanted more

Also just use the standard dose which has been approved by groups of scientists/doctors instead of messing around with this shit which may or may not do anything. The vast majority get no issues and then if you're in the 3% who do just reduce or stop taking it.

Got it. I was on 0.5mg finasteride every other day, and I guess it maintained my current hairline but definitely no regrowth.

You could well get regrowth just from switching to the recommended dose. I understand if you're doing this to save money but it is crazy to mess about like this because of something you saw on 4chan reddit or YouTube

More so concerned about the adverse effects of increased dht suppression. The aim should be the minimum dosage that is effective. I had no side effects on low dosage and have started doing 0.5mg fin daily and adding 0.5mg of dut once a week.

I know that is why people do this but it is beyond retarded. This is not a dangerous drug, it is safer than contraceptive pill, aspirin, DOACs etc yet online many on 4chan or reddit treat it like some cutting edge steroid.

The 1mg dosage was determined as the most effective while having an excellent side effect profile. You start with this then taper down if you have problems which is very unlikely. Otherwise it could well not work and you will end up needing to take more stuff completely unnecessarily (possibly case for you if you've been on it for a while).

I would assume you have seen this on tressless but you should always be really skeptical of shit you see online. Like most people justify this based on scalp DHT suppression (which seems logical but medicine is illogical) but is there actually any first line evidence suggesting hair count is unaffected by lowering the dose over longer periods of time? I've never seen it. Is there any evidence you're avoiding "sides" doing this? I've never seen it. Maybe you'll be ok lowering the dose... maybe not.

If it matters I am a very newly qualified doctor but really just look at medical guidelines/evidence if you're actually worried such as NICE or BNF in UK they all say 1mg not to do any of this cause that is what evidence actually supports...

Yeah, I do browse tressless quite a bit. There is definitely a lot of fear porn surrounding fin and especially dut, probably promoted by coping baldies, but I am generally not a fan of altering your hormones unless necessary. Even with birth control, there are a lot of fems who report adverse effects: changes in libido, mood, etc. At the end of the day, itโ€™s about the risk-to-reward ratio. Some will respond negatively but most wonโ€™t.

bro you are posting right now about using oral min which is definitely more dangerous than fin or dut (still very safe). If you have been on fin a while there is a good chance you wouldn't be making the thread if you took it properly.

But anyway just do whatever but don't be surprised if results are less than ideal since you are ignoring all the guidelines. It might still work but no one can say and if it doesn't this could well be explanation.
