Hello /adv/, I think I'm in a predicament, so I thought I'd ask you guys what you'd do in my situation.
I was with a girl for a little over 6 months. We met at work and started seeing each other. (yes, yes, I know, first mistake.)
While we were still together, we changed jobs for better opportunities and pay. She started a couple of months before me at this new job. Let me make it clear that I did NOT take this new job because of her. As I said, better opportunities and pay.
However, we just broke up and it wasn't good at all. I won't get into the details about it, but this is where my predicament is. Should I or should I not go to HR and let them know what happened? It would only be to cover my ass and let them know I'm here for the job and benefits, that I never took it for her. I actually like the job a lot. I want to know if going to HR is a good option, or if I should just continue to do what I'm supposed to and perform at my job well. I'm afraid because eI just started this new job and I don't want to be cut when I know that I'm fully capable of composing myself and not being rude or whatever. I'll be polite and cordial, just as I would be with any other coworker. On the other hand, I don't know if - knowing her melodramatic ass - if I should go to cover my ass.
Hoping for some decent advice. I'm okay with the breakup, but I don't want to lose a job over this. Thanks in advance!
