Try this for a start: sit down and open a notepad file. Do nothing else but pay attention to the thoughts that are entering your head. Write each one of them down. You might be surprised by just how much toxic garbage is in there. Keep doing this regularly, as just recognizing it will help a lot. Then challenge those thoughts. Are they actually true? Probably not. Try to look at more positive perspectives. Look at a chart of the negative/positive thought spiral dichotomy and try focusing on the positive ones. This will all feel really gay if you're anything like me, but remember, there's nothing gay about feeling better about yourself.
Also, try getting a CBT/DBT workbook. Writing all this shit down and journaling helps a lot too. Sometimes just doing that makes you realize your brain is just being retarded.
I would also suggest Metta Meditation. Focus on your inner child and treat him with kindness and compassion. Go easy on yourself, that child does not deserve hatred.
