Why do porn addicts often have specific fetishes? Some like furries, some incest, some trannies... Why? It's almost as if there's some specific route where porn addicts are taken depending on their personalities

Fetishes are not genetic. They may be epigenetic at best, but they're majority environmental in my opinion. Same way as phobias. Fetishes are usually indirectly learned, influenced by prior events or dynamics that aren't obvious to the person with the fetish, but it's there. Usually around the time of sexual awakening something was a familiar presence or a shocking one, and then their sexuality molds itself around those elements and presto, you got a fetish or two.

Why can phobias be cured but not fetishes? Psychology as of now say that fetishes or paraphilias are pretty much like a sexual orientation and therefore unchangeable. I don't completely believe it but that seems to be the consensus

Phobias can't be cured, neither can fetishes. Neither can anxiety or depression or OCD or other mental disorders. Because 'cure' isn't the right word. Cure is for ailments of the body.

Remission is the psych version of 'cure'. And phobias can go into remission, so can fetishes, and depression, anxiety disorders, etc. Feels the same as a cure, but difference is it can always come back if the right (in this case, wrong) stressors present themselves again and cause a relapse.

Fetishes and paraphilia aren't like sexual orientation. If they were, you could put being straight or gay into remission. Doesn't work like that.

Fetishes are just the sexual reflection of some dynamic indirectly tied to some experience. Could be a bad experience or a good one.

Yeah I study it, not formally though, as a hobby of mine. Been meaning to formally get into psychiatry but I got a few reasons why I dislike the practice as it is now in modern times.

As for gays being gay, no one has a clue. Although some may have a clue, but for socio-political reasons, refuse to dig into it and make a claim on what causes it. That's one of the reasons why I don't wanna get into clinical psychiatry. It's been lobotomized and restrained by retarded social red tape.

Some mix of built in desires, exposure, desensitization, etc. It’s rare for them to have no basis. For example trannies are popular due to taboo and men being biologically wired to experience attraction when seeing female sexual characteristics and a penis. It probably signals sex and for whatever reason that wiring plus some desensitization from something like porn can cause it to become a fetish. Especially so for men that are hyper visual and it’s basically a set of positive inputs - negative outputs. Porn is probably mainly responsible because it strongly triggers positive desires while obscuring negative ones. For example you aren’t exposed to bad smells or see bad bodily fluids etc so you aren’t turned off when you normally would be and then your mind acclimates

Neural pathways are built-up (by myelination) by repeated action. Myelin is a coating that wraps around nerve fibres and makes them super-fast. For example, in a video game, with practice you will get very quick at certain, increasingly complex, hand and finger moves. Just so, the porn user will build up instant and strong connections between arbitrary visual cues and pleasure responses.

If the activity is stopped, the myelin gradually gets recycled and the response degrades. "Use it or lose it" runs both ways: things you want to keep and things you want to lose. It all comes down to where you choose to place your attention.

Realistically, the pre-depraved victim will be found at an exceptionally low point within their life and from such; become vulnerable.

Within a vulnerable state of mind, your brain automatically scans its enviornment for relief or possibility of relief. Be it from stress, existential fear, or just no companionship.

Many turn to porn, and once this is done its only a matter of time that a vanilla-missionary-only individual gets suggested a new type of video with a new variable to "excite" them once they click that suggested the death spiral begins.

It will go from 1 thing to another and eventually you'll be at the bottom of the abyss.

This isn't even factoring previous traumas of the victim, which absolutely influences certain fetishes which most of the time isn't a cope but rather a maldaptive survival strategy executed by the brains subconscious.

A son who was brutalized by his mom (emotionally or physically) will be primed to incorporate an extreme dynamic. Be it hurting women during sex, or being hurt by them, or becoming a doormat.

This is a parrallel of the Fight, Flight, and Freeze response mechanisms.

I've heard it said that all fetishes come down to one of two things: sensation, or the desire to feel wanted.
