Look into Jungian Philosophy, specifically in regards to the shadow. The point of mastering your dark side is to become a complete person. Darkness doesn't always mean aggression its relates to negative aspects of yourself your trying to suppress. So if your secretly a retard and you have been projecting that your genius, thats an aspect of your shadow self. So you have to embrace being the retard you always was.

It's the opposite of everything you think of yourself. A cop can be prone to commiting crimes, whilst a criminal dreams of being virtuous. Look at figures like Al capone or LASD Duty Gangs. If you try to be completely upstanding or evil, your shadow self will work against you. Awarness of all aspects of yourself means your shadow won't be working against you subversibly.

But remember the goal isn't to be evil for the sake wanting to be more virtuous. If you WANT to be evil that apart of your ego not your shadow. The WANT means that there is something inside of you that you feel you lack. Thats what you have to find.
