I have this weird thing where I always get obsessed with a certain thing, dedicate the entirety of my time to it and then after some time I completely lose interest in it and forget about it. Then I get obsessed with something else and the cycle continues.
Sometimes this interferes with my studies because I'm too focused on something entirely different and have to force myself to focus on something I need to do for school. However sometimes I get obsessed with something related to my studies and then my productivity in the school area skyrockets so it can be beneficial.
Some people told me this is a symptom of ADHD. Should I go to see someone? I don't think I have the other symptoms but maybe I should get checked to be sure.
either adhd or autism. hyperfixation on a topic, especially one that more has to do with personal investment rather than responsibility (i.e. building a deck for your house or working out vs reports or laundry) is gonna give you a shitton more dopamine.
if its adhd, its bc you crave that kind of passion and attachment to what youre working on. you like the thing, you do the thing, it gets a 2x bonus and it feels less rewarding to do the other shit. the thing is, the other shit is supposed to be rewarding. not as much, but you should at least get a proper hit of "i did it, its over, good job"
anyway im not a doctor and i know very little about anything and everything, so maybe just nip this in the bud and maybe check this out with a professional. i did a little digging but this is a quick assessment: https://adhdquiz.com.au/asrs/

Then I get obsessed with something else and the cycle continues.bro or sis, you are literally me and every other autist throughout all of time. these are your "special interests". some stay with you for longer than others. anyway you just have to embrace it and ride the wave. i find my interests always somehow spiral back and feed into the previous one and build upon it, and also get revisited at later times. life is like a spiral, or something, man..
>>33372849 (OP)exact same for me. i think its like add or ocd as a classice pick up artist once said

It's autism. I have the same problem.

>I have this weird thingYou have OCD.
>However sometimes I get obsessed with something related to my studies and then my productivity in the school area skyrockets so it can be beneficial. What you want to learn how to do is to control your thoughts and become obsessed with what you want to obsess with. When distractions come up, you want to learn how to direct your attention. A psychiatrist can help you turn your OCD into a superpower before it becomes your downfall. Obsessing over the wrong, unsolvable thing could potentially ruin your life.
