what kind of people do you socialize with? how important is networkmaxxing to making it? some retards here claim it's nothing
I am tired of hanging around the bottom scraps of society, people who are terminally locked into wagism 4 life, drug addicts, wagies, neets, social rejects, drop outs
I can't be around these people anymore, I have to escape, I have to GET. OUT.
I cannot discuss useless normies shit anymore with no focus on how to make more money, escape this shit
I need business minded people and moneymaxxers
I am isolated and secluded surrounded by retards
not only that but these people will actively drag you down into shit to, mentally and spiritually
have you escaped them?

Depends on your goals depends on your trajectory. Networking is important and helpful. If you want to be a family man, befriending other married couples with kids helps. If you wanna get into a trade or hobby befriending people with those same things help. Networking works. Until money gets involved. Then things get a bit more cutthroat, OP. Because you won't be making friends in that world, you'll be making contacts. And those contacts ain't gonna make you rich. Because you're both after the same resource, money. Means they'll not tell you how to make money, that's less money for them. Unless you give them money, then you're their best friend. Because you become a part of their plan. If you try to make your own plans, they cut ties. You can exploit the jungle law in this dynamic to your advantage, you can step on the ladder and climb and make the money. But don't expect friends or meaningful connections if that's what you're after.

not sure if it's helpful, but what follows is my own experience with "networking":

pretty much all of my friends are CS or math researchers of some kind. we used to be 3 friends who met each other at the start of uni and then our friend bubble just grew around that over the years during university. i also became closer acquintances with some of my advisors for theses and other projects during university. wouldn't say that they are business-minded people or deeply care about money, they usually just want to work on interesting problems either because of the challenge, or because it is genuinely transformative in some way.
i didn't connect with them deliberately for networking reasons; i stuck with them because i genuinely liked their company and could just be myself around them.

i benefited greatly from these relationships as i got all my jobs without ever having to write an application; people just asked me whether i want to work with them. never had to do an interview. got a 6 figure job in europe fresh out of university this way.
