How should i communicate this?
The type of cake my parents got for my birthday is not one i like. I liked it when I was younger, but now I quite dislike it.. They didn't ask my preference and got it the day of. Is there a way I can communicate i dont like it? I won't be eating any..
I feel bad but they didn't even ask. It was $30.
If I say nothing, when it comes time to cut and eat, I still won't want any! So it's going to come out either way right? I'm anxious
>>33377962 (OP)You should say: "hey, I noticed you got X flavor of cake. I know I like it a lot when I was a kid, but I actually don't like that flavor anymore. I really appreciate you remembering that I liked it, though, and it is the thought that counts. I love you guys"
Can you vomit and say that it happened because you ate too much cake? Then you should say that now even looking at cake makes you feel sick.
After that, you and your family should go to a restaurant and find a delicious cake, and you should talk about it like it’s the best cake you’ve ever had in your life.
Most likely, they’ll remember your reaction to that ordinary cake and will definitely buy that one.
>>33377962 (OP)Grow the fuck up, think about someone else's feeling for once in your miserable life, and enjoy the gift cake and don't waste our time with your infantile nonsense.
>>33377962 (OP)Why can't you just tell them you have a different favorite now? It sounds like you still want to he grateful, which you can be and give them an update on your current preference. Tastes change just like everything else, I'm sure they understand that.
>>33377962 (OP)Literally just tell them. "Thank you very much for the cake, and I really do appreciate the thought, but I'm not actually nearly as fond of that type of cake these days as I was when I was a child. Next time do you think I could have X?"
>>33377962 (OP)You thank them very much, force yourself to eat some of it, throw away the rest once they've gone. And then sometime before your next birthday casually mention "I was a someone's house and had some ____ cake and it was really nice."
