How do I "get rid" of my fear of the dentist?
I have an extraction appointment in a week and I'm scared shitless of going, I already have done this once but I know I'll get extremely anxious and scared, I know it will be painless, but I have an irrational fear of any possible pain that I don't know how I will confront it without feeling anxious as fuck.
I got one week so it's plenty to prepare mentally, I suppose, but I need help to know how to handle myself...

Once you get to the office, run several laps around the block before going inside. Hopefully you'll be too exhausted to be panicked

Once or before getting to the office? lol
Maybe, even if I get tired, my body always finds the energy to wake up whenever I get any emotional spike or anything stimulant

You already know that it will be painless, so it's just on you to actually control yourself. Do you always let your emotions control you? Because that sounds miserable.

It's just like a phobia, with a mix of paranoia, I get scared with anything related to doctors, I guess it comes from childhood because I often got forced, I wouldn't know

You won’t feel any pain if it’s done by a surgeon. The process will be quick like 10-15 minutes. The only issue is what happens after. You have to rest at home for 3 days to make sure the blood clot doesn’t break otherwise you’ll get a dry socket (excruciatingly painful)

There are dentists who specialize in anxious patients. They'll knock you out the minute you sit down.

You don't get rid of the fear of the dentist. You go to the dentist because the consequence of not doing it is far worse. You need to grow up and not be a pussy some day, Anon. If my 7 year old son who can't handle me digging a splinter out of his toe can sit there and get a crown done, you can close your eyes while the dentist does his job.

It's not even about "grow up and stpo being a pussy" anon, you're asking too much of a person having troubles handling their fears, most of the times it's about convincing them that whatever idea they made up in their minds out of fear is fucking false, fear and paranoia will always make up weird logics even if they don't make any sense.
