>>33409462NTA, but someone who has worked a lot of jobs and seen a lot, so let me use two real-world examples.
First is a guy I'll call Adam.
Second guy is Bob.
Bob had been hired about 3 months before Adam.
Bob loved to call people what he called 'nicknames'. Robbie that had a glass eye? Bob called him Cyclops. Jerry that had lost a finger? Bob called him Frodo. Nick who was 6'5" tall? Bob called him Redwood.
No one really cared, but Bob was obviously upset that the 'nicknames' didn't stick. No one else used them just Bob.
Adam gets hired and comes in. Adam had some legit medical condition and had to take pills that made him not just gain weight, but swell so he was not just a little chubby but had a huge chin and so on, very odd looking.
About 10 minutes after getting hired Bob called him "Slim".
Bob laughed.
About 20 minutes later Adam called bob "Stretch".
Bob was 5'4".
Bob didn't laugh.
Bob went to HR and complained that Adam was bullying him. Said it was totally inappropriate to mock people in the workplace.
HR knew all about Bob calling people Cyclops and Frodo and told him they'd 'look into it' and essentially blew him off.
Not too long later Bob called Adam 'Peter Griffin' and Adam laughed as said 'what do you want, Stewie?'.
Bob goes back to HR and complains he's being bullied. HR suggested he wasn't a good fit.
So.
yeah.
