Am I fired frens?
I work as a delivery driver for a trash company. Basically I drive a big diesel truck with a trailer and deliver/remove cans around town. I’ve been working for about a month now, the bosses like me and always tell me I’m doing great and I’m always able to handle the workload no matter how much they throw at me. Today as I was leaving my 12hr shift, I noticed I needed def so I stopped by the tank to fill up. I was tired and without thinking I started filling the diesel tank with def, after about 20 seconds I took it out because I figured the def was full. I drove across the yard and parked it when I finally realized what I did when the def gauge needle didn’t move. No one else was on the yard so I’m preparing to lose my job when I tell my supervisor tomorrow. The truck is a piece of shit and already had a “water in fuel” code the entire time I’ve been driving it so far, I’m guessing it might’ve happened before. But I’m assuming I’m fucked, what should I do anons?

Def (diesel exhaust fluid), basically any amount can fuck up the engine.

desu your biggest fuckup probably wasn't breaking the truck, it was probably leaving without telling them. if it's not too late, i'd call/email your boss and tell them what happened. since there was no one else and they know 100% it was you, it can't hurt at all to own up to it.

So the trucks assigned to me so no one but me is touching until I clock in tomorrow. I’m gonna fess up tomorrow morning, say I didn’t realize what I did until I started the truck up in the morning. Didn’t want to bother everyone when they were clocking off and the mechanics are gone anyway. Preparing to get fucked and fired tomorrow though after I own up to it. I only drove it like 100yds across the yard.

Just drive it until it breaks down. Blame on the previous driver since the truck is “a piece of shit”.

How the fuck do you put DEF into your tank? Aren’t the nozzles different sizes?

Mistakes happen a lot. Don't do anything yet. Just talk to your boss about this and see how far you go. Like you, every day at my job I worry if I'm going to make the jackpot of getting fired. I've taken so many chances at my job I'm glad my boss forgives me.

DEF in the diesel tank would be worse, fess up and have the mechanics drain out the bad shit.

If it didn't blow up it might have ran rough a bit but diesels are tough and it might he totally fine

just admit it first thing in the morning anon, even if you lose your job at least you're honest about what happened

Yeah. Any boss with half a brain will appreciate employees telling him their mistakes, and will encourage that behaviour by not being mad is such a situation. This will be much better than having employees trying to hide their mistakes and later finding out about fuckups left and right "noone" is responsible for, but which are expensive to fix now.
