But I left something crucial in her place but I can’t let her know that it’s there and I need to be the one to get it, it’s important that I either get it back or she or anyone else never finds it. What do I do?

Well, I'm sorry, anon, but this is a situation where you have no choice but to behave like a grown-up for once. Talk to her, calmly. Say "I'm sorry to bother you; I promise it's just this one thing and then I will get out of your hair for good." Arrange to go and pick up whatever it is. And you are going to need to tell her what it is. This is how normal, grown-up people behave after a break-up.

Literally your only other option is to burgle her house, and that is not a sane thing to do.

I’m op, That isn’t me and it’s not a journal. It’s a small thing I hid in her possession towards the end of the relationship and I justified it because of how she was acting towards the end. The item itself is not illegal but how I used it was probably. It is not to be consumed in any way and it can be used by anyone given the right circumstance. I hope she either doesn’t find it or she sells the thing it’s In. I don’t think it’s a good idea to see her again probably but I really do need it back or if she just lets this thing blow over. Any ideas ?

It’s essentially a small phone. I didn’t use it for texting, calling, or camera, and there’s no data on it. But she has no idea it’s there and I don’t know if it’s worth getting now
