What exactly is "customer service experience"?
I keep seeing "X years customer service experience" on job postings, with no clarification as to what sort of customer service experience. Food service, call center tech support, hotel desk receptionist, and supermarket cashier are all customer-facing roles but don't really have much relevance to each other.

Retail, grocery store, sales.
They're asking "are you a neurotypical social normie who will be a good culture fit and good at your job and at interacting with people and coworkers or will you be a sperg and a problem?"

They’re basically asking “If you were in a situation where you were talking to the dumbest, most socially inept, and rudest human being alive, would you be able to give them what they want with a smile?” This is a daily occurrence in retail and if you can’t handle that you can’t be in customer service.

Any and all of the above.

And never let "X years experience" stop you. Job listings are wishlists describing the dream candidate. If he doesn't show up, they'll take the best among those who do, and "X years experience" is the first item they're willing to fudge on.
