Am I an asshole if I find people who yawn while making a loud sound with their vocal cords to be incredibly annoying?

Like they're yelling or basically singing while they're yawning?

Same boat. It's annoying. On rare occasions I come across people who make noises tennis players do after they sneeze. Makes me want to burn the world up.

No it's not, if I want to not make noise while yawning I just don't use my vocal cords. The yawn is involuntary, the noise is voluntary

OP oh my god I know exactly what you are talking about. It is NOT involuntary. It is not necessary to make a vocal sound while yawning. It’s almost like they think that’s what a yawn is “supposed” to sound like so they do it somewhat purposefully. Some people need to consyantly make noise and don’t know how to just exist silently. I do have misophonia. You too?

No, I can control my vocals for yawning too. I choose not to though. I can if I want, it's easy. But it's also not satisfying or feels like a true proper yawn. If I stifle my yawns into small quiet ones, it means I gotta do a dozen of them to feel relief.

If I just do one big vocal yawn, it really scratches that sort of itchy ache of fatigue behind my eyes and throat. Way not effective for me. And I'm not gonna stop that just because someone else has the sensory receptors of a fucking X-Men man-bat with super hearing. I can't guess who has autistic levels of sensory receptors and who hasn't and I'm not gonna live my life catering to a 'what if?'

I can control the volume of my yawn, however I'm a pretty loud yawner, my dad was too and my grandpa as well, I find it kind of endearing. In any case if you're around me you won't have to hear me yawn unless I got like 2 hours of sleep. Otherwise I might just yawn once in the morning and that's about it.

People who constantly yawn annoy me too, because I'm like brother just sleep at home, but a yawn once is okay and I accept it and I even find it kind of endearing. These aren't the problems that break me in my life

When I was at camp, I had to be in a dorm with a couple guys like that. They would sing their shitty music when they knew I was there trying to sleep. They would sneeze while yelling at the same time. Watch their tiktok videos without headphones, when they knew I was there trying to sleep. The list goes on and on.

even when they sneeze, they can't sneeze out of their nose anymore they have to sneeze through their vocal chords all BBBRREEEUW-HHOOUUAH
sometimes I wake up dad from my dad screaming bodily functions across two closed doors and around a corner down the hallway. At least there's no screaming involved when shitting, yawning and sneezing are the only standards ones luckily.
