Hours cut
Last week I worked 16 hours at this shitty fast food job. This week they keep sending me home early so I've only worked 3. Why are they doing this? The boss said he'd give me hours but now I'm gonna be fucking broke.

Need more information.

Leading hypothesis is they don't like you and are trying to get you to quit by cutting hours.

Manager told me they were "high on labor" so I guess they just hired too many people.

are you bad at your job?

I don't think so. It's a pretty easy job. But I've only been working there for three weeks so I don't think the manager should expect me to be perfect just yet.

why don't you just get a fulltime job that pays better? why are you settling for a shit job with shit pay that doesn't even let you work?

They might be trying to make you quit on your own to avoid paying any sort of unemployment. Not sure how that works but I’ve heard stories like this. My advice is go work in a factory or a warehouse or something and just do this for 6 months or a year and save up as much money as you can. From there after the 6 month or 1 year mark using your saving jump to the next thing. you will have enough savings that you can float on this for a while before locking in something more long term. There is no reason for you to be working in fast food if they won’t even give you hours. Fast food doesnt pay enough as far as I’m concerned because you have to deal with so many shitty people daily. It’s not worth it. while you are waiting around to see what your schedule will be next week try to find something in your area like a warehouse or a factory. just work full time. It might suck but you will thank yourself for doing this if you listen to me and you work full time doing this and save up a bunch of money which will then give you the resources you need later to pivot to something better plus a large safety cushion of savings in case anything goes wrong. Also get your nutrition and shit dialed in. if you are going to work full time doing anything like manual labor you have to take care of your body too. Younger you are the easier it will be but everyone should be getting vitamin d enough protein fruits and veggies etc. with a physical job it’s even more important. Just trust me and suck it up and just do this. you will be making a lot more money than at your retarded fast food job which is fucking you over and you will probably have enough money left over to splurge a bit here and there along the way. Got anyone in your family you care about? Buy them a nice things here and there to make them happy. stuff like that will make it more rewarding. keep track of your financial progress each month.

I thought I'd have more hours than this.

Yeah I applied to the fedex warehouse in my area. I hope they'll hire me.

This is the girlboss way of not firing you but trying to make you an orbiter.
Start looking for work and be thankful you can tell the girlboss HR at the next job that you were not fired you're just looking for something else (do not mention lack of hours, they know that means quiet firing). Its like quiet quitting but the opposite direction.
It doesn't matter why, does it? I had a relative who got hours endlessly cut until the site went out of business after he didn't work there for about a year. He had another job after a couple months but they kept him on the payroll.
I think it has something to do with obamacare where you qualify for free insurance because you're an employee despite technically never going to work. Not a bad deal if you can get it.

my boss is a black guy and the manager is a half asian dude or something

The solution to that is to bring down the ratio of payroll hours to hours of operation by operating more business hours. Tell the boss that most of the money is made while the doors are open and be willing to help make that happen.

Hoping you get interview. It may impress to familiarise yourself with federal regulations pertaining to department of transportation regulations, shipping, aviation too if there are planes around.
