I have never found it depressing, there's beautiful nature, people have a nice sense of humor and growing up with a bunch of stereotypes about how closed-off Brits are, I find them easy to talk to.

That said there's a few things I can imagine standing out depending on where you're from yourself. One is that the weather can be fairly depressing, just the typical grey skies and drizzle combination. While I found people largely friendly, everyone in or outside the UK agrees it is not easy to become actual close friends with English people and they have a hard time being emotionally open to anyone on average. While they can be obstacles in terms of your self-confidence, I think focusing on your good qualities instead will make you feel better about yourself and people will pick up on that. As for skin, we're lucky to live in a time where there's so much information available and products you can use. There are a lot of dermatologists giving good free advice. I recommend seeing one too if you haven't already or experimenting with drugstore products. It's very soothing.
