Cycling vs motorcycle
What's best as a hobby?
I like both, but I don't know which to invest time into. I could get a really nice road bicycle for the price of a nice motorcycle.
My city is really shit for cycling, but motorcycles have more of a chance to get you killed.
I have broken a bone in cycling at low speeds, if I crash at high speed, I don't know if i'd survive.
So... should you risk it for the biscuit or just play it safe by staying in cycling?

Don't be a bitch

Given that your city sucks for cycling, I'd say motorcycle. It's probably not much more dangerous than cycling if your bike infrastructure sucks. I don't know though, I like both...

+1 it's way more fun and satisfying. The community as a whole is far more knit than any non motorized 2 wheeler.

Doesn't matter what you ride, you'll get way more passive social interaction

I have owned both, as well as cars and a van, and I like my current ride the best: an e-bike (pedelec standard common throughout most of the world 250KW, 25kph unassisted maximum). It needs no licence or registration. It allows me to stay in aerobic "zone 2" regardless of grade (great for hilly areas) which develops maximum VO2.

As for the ideal locations to live with such transport: Obviously, the Netherlands is the gold standard, followed by Germany, Denmark, France and the UK is catching up slowly. Also Canada. Trains that have a bicycle painted on the carriage are a good sign, but even without that you can ask and often be allowed to take a bike on board during non-peak times. Regarding the USA: the cities are all over the map regarding their car-centricity. Follow urbanist YT channels to find the most livable places.

Lol what a square.

OP get the motorcycle, especially if you're in America.

I keep mine inside. When using it (say, outside stores) I lock it with an angle-grinder "resistant" lock. That slows a thief down to at least a couple of minutes he needs to cut it in two places: plenty of time to hear the noise and come out and give him a life-changing experience.

Cycling is a great form of exercise. I have seen so many fat guys on motorbikes, but I have never seen a fat guy ride a bicycle.
