How can I tell if my friends are bad friends or really just don’t like me very much but are too polite to say so?

Do you like them?

Do they put the same amount of effort into the friendship as you?

Two ways to tell someone is actually your friend:
>Will criticize you when you are fucking up. Particularly when you are about to make a bad decision. Actual friends who give a shit get angry and don't want to see you hurt. Friends who don't give a shit won't care to tell you one way or the other. And friends who only use you for convenience will validate your shit choices and people please you.

>Real friends remember you. When they start laughing to themselves or smiling and tell you "aw man, was just remembering that time me and you did (memorable thing) the way you said or did that (memorable thing) had me laughing" it shows the person actively thinks of you when you are not around.

That's a friend.

It makes no difference. The only useful question is are they good for you? Well-meaning friends with shitty mindsets are no better than ill-intentioned people. You are harmed either way.

Find better friends.
