Luck
few days ago there was a thread about misfortune and some idiot said there was no such thing as luck only skill issues.
Webm related.
How can this be anything but pure luck?
true skills will get you far, but not far enough.
>Being luck is better than being good.
So, how to be more lucky in my life?
and not get upset my misfortune?

"luck" is when skill and an opportunity intersect. In the video you posted, the skill was getting the ball so close to the edge that any slight touch would push it over. The opportunity was the mosquito walking on the golf ball. The golfer is clearly very skilled. He only *slightly* undershot. Most people wouldn't be anywhere near the hole.

Additionally: your view of "luck" depends on some random shit just happening to you. Meanwhile, people who practice, are driven towards their goals and consistently strive to make things happen seem to run into "luck" all the time.

Your view of "luck" is irrelevant to people who actually do things and are more than NPCs waiting for god to wave his magic wand in their direction.

How can lottery be anything but luck?

Luck > Cheating > Skill > "Hard work"

You can't affect luck.

Many sources say to reframe your perspective and focus on good things. They are retarded. Humans are biologicaly built to focus on bad things.

You have redefined "luck" as "opportunity" and only kicked the can down the road one step.

Sure they plan without knowing when an opportunity will occur, but you are ignoring that those opportunities do not occur for all at the same rate.

All you've done is beg the question:
>How do you get those opportunities.

What if the fly didn't move the ball?
His skills would have been useless.
OP is asking a valid question about how to not be upset with misfortune.
When your skills doesn't get you what you want.

The lottery is an algorithm that someone's actually broken before. Each one is different, but it can be broken, yes. Try again.

>>33534162
Opportunities are useless if you can't take advantage of them. In other words: your bullshit "luck" means fuck all if you can't see the opportunity or do anything about it. Skill is still required. Try again.

>>33534174
>Muh what if the fly didn't move the ball?
Irrelevant. What if he didn't undershoot? Try again.
>Skills would've been useless
No nigger, his skill got him close to the hole in the first place. Again, the average person, starting from the original position at the start of the course, wouldn't even be close, even if this ball never went in with the video. Try again.
>OP is asking a valid question.
No. OP is a faggot who left out the entirety of the game that proceeded this clip, discarding all the skill it took to get to this point and projecting it all onto the "luck" of a mosquito. Try again.

There's a trendy meme term going around now called "luck surface area" which basically says the more things you do to increase your chances of being luckier, the luckier you will be overall

Example: You buy 1000 lottery tickets, instead of 100 or 10, so you have increased your chances etc.

The idea itself doesn't necessarily have to do with monetary investment. Other examples could be socializing with more people, trying more new things, etc.

Their idea is absurd, but not as absurd as you needing to make a thread validating your feelings. You and I both know that table card games are RNG. There is some skill to each game, sure, but when a game like a simple diceroll contest occurs, there's no way in hell skill can have anything to do with it.

I've always felt like I've had mid luck. I've had enough good luck to get to where I am, but enough bad luck (combined with poor choice making) to have as many obstacles as I did getting here. Truthfully it's not 100% luck or 100% skill. It's a gray zone, which is a boring answer.

>So, how to be more lucky in my life?
stop thinking about the concepts of luck and misfortune. See everything as neutral. You'll be lucky if you stop responding negatively to bad situations (responding negatively to a bad situation turns a bad situation into two bad situations; the second being your negative reaction).
>and not get upset my misfortune?
Study stoicism on youtube, academy of ideas is a great channel to learn how to be okay with any outcome. Same with the Sam Hyde outcome independence video.
