Have you ever bought furniture from a store to save money and is it better than buying directly from the manufacturer?

I don't know anybody who buys furniture direct from manufacturer.

Why?

I honestly don't think there's a huge difference between a $300 recliner and a $3,000 recliner. Maybe it will last longer, but they will both be very comfortable. I think I got ripped off

Why? I think just because most people buy furniture at furniture stores and not manufacturers, I don't know. I'm not sure I even understand your original question.

You asked if anyone has bought furniture from a store to save money instead of buying from the manufacturer, but most manufacturers don't even provide a way to buy their product other than in stores they're partnered with. i.e. la-z-boy typically only sells through retailers they are teamed with, they don't really sell their own product.

Which then I don't get the question because why would buying the same product by the same manufacturer be different based on where you buy it? It's the same thing, literally. Did you mean do you buy off-brand lower quality furniture to save money but it turns out better?

anything resulting from the furniture industrial complex after NAFTA is gonna be a piece of shit

buying vintage or from craftsmen is the only way to get anything worthwhile

Because when you buy from the manufacturer they build it from scratch as soon as you order it, and in a retail store it could sit for months or years. Just didn't know if that really mattered or was worth the price difference. And when you buy buy from the manufacturer, you can customize it however you want and add extra features like memory foam seat cushions. This is my first time buying furniture so I don't know what I'm doing

The only craftsmen near me are Amish folk and I don't think they deal with anything other than wood

I'd rather be able to sit in the chair or on the bed or whatever it is physically interact with it and use it how it'd be used - you can only do this in a store. Rather that than custom order a thing I don't actually like once I am interacting with it in person.

I got confused about the 'saving money' part, I guess, given custom orders from a manufacturer are going to cost more money than going to a furniture store.

Yeah, so basically I scammed myself. Could have gotten a similar chair for way less money at my local furniture store. Don't know why I didn't do that. I'm a fucking idiot

Honestly I love the chair I bought but if I told you what I paid for it you would laugh at me. Cost more than my first fucking car
