I've been without friends for a while now and I've done the most commonly suggested things (joining meetups etc.) but this never leads to me meeting anyone. I think the issue might be that the people in these meetups are quite different to me. These meetups are in many cases, filled with lots of indians that I feel resent me when I tell them I'm english. I live in a major city in ontario. Where do all the white people hang out? What are white people activities? I wish this part of making friends (being the same race, religion) was mentioned because it does seem to be central to how people ultimately bond and befriend each other.

Are they still resentful of the British Raj? A lot of Indians talk with a British accent in India, I thought there was more shared fond feelings like they like the royal family or something.

The energy totally changes when I bring up that I'm from england. It doesn't seem to help that they seem reluctant to befriend any person that's not indian or of their caste. Generally they don't really seem to open up much or be proactive. It's not all of them but you are sure to encounter this if you spend enough time with them. It feels like becoming friends is kind of an uphill battle. Just can't seem to find anyone that can relate to me (26m)

Do you like CFL football? Because going to the games is a lot of fun. You have 3 teams there to choose from. Ontarians don't really support their teams though sadly. "Major city" should mean one of the 3 teams so maybe you should try and go to a Boston Pizza or a local bar that participates in the Bus, Burger, Beer, Game Ticket promo and have a fucking blast! It will be a bit of a booze fest but you don't have to get plastered yourself. It is a lot of fun man. You will meet a bunch of people.

Outside of the GTA but even that isn't entirely true. North of Barrie is generally safe. Anything outdoorsy is white territory. Hiking, cycling, camping.
