SSRI:
Whelp, I was on them one week and my dick stopped working, and now I'm a week off and my sex drive is still heavily impacted. So that's not working.

We went over the *possibility* of sexual side effects, but I thought it was like other drugs that list random side effects and nothing happens.

Will my dick go back to full functionality?

This shit probably has some functionality and utlity, but they seem to give them out too freely.

There's also the more radical alternative: my dick didn't do much for me. Never had anything with a woman, and sex drive just got me into trouble. Maybe I should just let the state chemically castrate me and turn into a kind of celebate monk?

dr. Goystein is trying to castrate you to prevent your aryian seed from spreadign.

Probably, no guarantee though.

I recommend living a healthy lifestyle and hoping for the best, alternatively if you jeed an anti depressant that won't hurt your dick try Wellbutrin. It doesnt work as well but is much safer also.

Hi, I wasn't on this one specifically, but I know a bit about how antidepressants in general work.

With SSRis or SNRIs, people usually have one or two side effects during the first two weeks. Often it's either no or one side effect during the first week, then again no or one side effect during the second week. Then side effects either stop or not. If they stop, that's the desired effect it's supposed to be. If not, it's probably not the right antidepressant for you.

The weight gain side effect is usually not weight gain directly but rather increased appetite. So that could hopefully be managed since it doesn't last that long.

As for if you should start it now, I'm not sure I understand if the career and academic stuff starts after two weeks or it's the next upcoming two weeks. Either way it's recommended to not be doing anything stressful during the first two weeks, so I suppose decide based on that.

Different people experience different side effects.
t. on escitalopram for nearly two years with no loss of sex drive but lots of weight (appetite) gain

Give it the 2 weeks.
If side effects you dont like persist, then talk to your doctor about other possibilities. SSRIs are classically rough on sex drive. Its up to you to decide what is and isnt a good trade off for the treatment.
But this isnt permanent. If you stop the medication function returns.

My fear is permanent dick damage that cna't be reversed. I'm always paranoid about death, disease, misery, and illness.

The SSRIs are definitely in that class where you THINK you can drop it immediately because you feel good and there arenโ€™t as many physical changes once youโ€™re on it (mostly mental) and the change is slow so you canโ€™t tell.

But try to cut cold turkey from 20mg for a year? You have no more serotonin receptors and need them to grow back. You will feel like absolute shit and cannot get happy about anything, besides the physical brain zaps, sweats, etc.

I was off it for 2 years and my dick never recovered. It is entirely possible that your dick will be permanently affected.

>>33564061
It's very possible. It's what happened to me. But I took SSRIs for years so maybe yours will recover.

Unless you're literally going insane, don't take SSRIs. I was put on them when my entire world was collapsing and I couldn't sleep and was going insane and suicidal so I guess it's okay that I was put on them, because I might be dead otherwise. And even then I debate whether or not it would've been better to just die because SSRIs just suck that much ass.

Your boners will come back. The longer youโ€™re on them the longer itโ€™s going to take. If you are faced with functioning as a person or getting boners I suggest telling your psych or nurse practitioner that you want buspirone and Wellbutrin so your dick keeps working while you take them

Don't take them. You can't fix an abstract, internal problem that probably has to do with your own spiritual state or some circumstantial configuration in your life, with Big Pharma pills. It's better to talk to a psychoterapist or a Christian priest instead.

Aside from sexual dysfunction, it can also cause your emotions to turn numb in the long run. You need to stop taking SSRI's with your psychiatrist's guidance, don't do it cold-turkey. They can also cause suicidal ideation and other problems.

Are you sleeping well, eating well, doing regular exercise, healthily socializing, etc.? It's better that you take care of these aspects of your life rather than wanting to solve them with those stupid and toxic pills. I say this from personal experience as someone who was diagnosed with clinical depression in his teenage years, as well as OCD.

I don't know what your situation really is like, but that's my two cents. The depths of feeling bad have a counterpart which is the possibility of intensely feeling good: You numb one extreme, then the other extreme also gets limited, and this is even worse.

In other words, these pseudo-scientific bullshit pills have the potential to mess up your brain chemistry instead of "fixing" it, which is already a questionable thing (the "chemical imbalance" argument).

Use psychedelics instead, they'll give you longer lasting positive mental clarity with less floppy dick syndrome

SSRIs have a known effect on negatively impacting your ability to cum or to have sex. They tend to mess with you pretty much immediately after you start to take them, particularly if it's the first time you've ever taken something like it. Equally, they will take a while to leave your system, which is normal for your sex drive to still be off even one week later.

SSRIs take a while to build up and become effective (up to 6 weeks until they become stable) and you should wean off them very gradually over the course of several weeks for the same reason as they alter your brain chemistry. Coming off them cold turkey is not a good idea, and I speak from experience.

While yes, the warning labels normally list every possible thing and may not actually happen to you, SSRIs tend to mess with most people's sex drive. Your dick should eventually be fine, but give it another week or so for it to be fully out of your system. If you still have issues, see your doctor.

Additionally, it might be worth trying other medications like SNRIs instead. I originally tried Citalopram (SSRI) which worked well, but desensitized my dick and made it near impossible to cum half the time. I went off Citalopram for a bit and I'm now on Venlafaxine (SNRI). It still has a similar effect, but I find it far less severe than Citalopram was - it's much more manageable.

Maybe. The effect can be permanent, though.

Not him, but I studied clinical psychology back in 2007.
What's wild to me is that these arent intended for long term use. They're meant to be used as a booster to chase away all the motivation issues and ruts that come with depressive moods then youre supposed to be in therapy and build a sustainable lifestyle and get off them ASAP.
But GPs (infamously not amazing at mental health stuff.. ) just prescribe them symptomatically, and then reddit and Tumblr "its ok I need drugs" campaigns have pretty much absolutely wiped that understanding from public knowledge and here we are.. with people like you who kinda got fucked.

There are *some* people who seem to actually need them ongoing for maintenance use, but for the most part, no. People need to be on them and hit the ground running and off when they've got momentum.

well, about the same as a placebo, funnily enough.
too bad the side-effects are real, eh?
