Have you ever tried taking psyllium husk supplements? It's the same stuff that's in Metamucil, I recently started taking 2.5g of it daily a few weeks ago (5 500mg pills) and it has been an absolute game changer. My entire adult life I've dealt with issues of
1. soft stool and not being able to have a complete bowel movement, so it was as if my bowels were both too loose and frozen at the same time. Would have a loose bowel movement that would just kind of stop half way through and no amount of straining could empty my bowels, so I'd just have to wipe endlessly then continually go back to the bathroom hourly to reclean myself or hope my shit had descended enough to try and finally empty. But I was basically like the chocolate soft serve at a 7-11 during a rolling brownout in Alabama in August.

2. I would frequently alternate between days of constipation when I couldn't move my bowels at all, and then would have a very large bowel movement that so emptied me that I would feel stomach cramps for a couple minutes as my large intestine deflated.

I just assumed I'd have to live like this my whole life, and it was getting worse. But I started taking these fiber supplements and I cannot believe how well they've fixed both these problems. It is almost like I want to get up on my roof and yell out I'M CURED. It's really astonishing, that just an ordinary supplement can do all this.

Try this. I had IBS, with a very sensitive stomach.

Started taking psyllium husk/Metamucil for cholesterol, and noticed my stomach is A LOT more tolerant now. I take about 15g of the regular Metamucil per meal. I know the sugar-free has different serving sizes.

Be warned, the first week will be awful. Drink A LOT of water and expect diarrhea when starting, so save it for once you're home.

yes I agree the first week was awful, but I would recommend just taking the pills over metamucil because that stuff has so much sugar in it and other crap that is not healthy. When I tried mixing just raw psyllium powder into water I couldn't get myself to commit to doing it daily because it was like drinking a glass of water mixed with flour, a chore at best. There's a reason metamucil adds so much to make it drinkable. But getting the psyllium husk in pill form made it so much easier for me to consistently take it every day, and not need to consume all that unnecessary sugar.

Are you actually taking medication for it? Mebeverine and/or Buscopan are extremely effective.

Um... "de-gas" is not a treatment for IBS, it's a treatment for trapped wind. Those are two completely different conditions. You may conceivably suffer from both, in which case there's no medical reason why you can't take both medications at once. But "switching" from an IBS medication to a trapped wind medication doesn't make a great deal of sense, on the face of it.

Have you been checked for bowel cancer? Haemorrhoids are a less scary possibility.

One thing I'd recommend is actually taking a complete men's multivitamin, specifically one that mentions gut health. If you work construction, I can almost guarantee that you eat like shit too, and there are certain vitamins that are supposed to absorb into your stomach lining that just aren't present in most of the goy slop that your average American has to eat. I at least got my constant diarrhea down to an occasional symptom.

Second, consider switching jobs, if your employer isn't going to reliably ensure you have a place to shit. Having to hold it all the time is just going to aggravate the symptoms, and it's not like you're in some holy grail gig that people are dying to get into.

While that's true, to get the recommended amount, capsules are VERY expensive per gram. Don't they recommend 6 capsules per meal?

And yes, raw psyllium powder just makes it hard to commit. The sugar/sweeteners to Metamucil is the trade-off for the price.
