Am I autistic?
Does it make a difference to know through a legit diagnosis if you're autistic?

I'm a high-functioning 28 m that lives on its own, yet I can't help but notice that most of the time people approach me like if I were a kid, talking to me in a condescending way. Several times I've seen people chuckle or give me a pityful look, saying shit like "you must be pretty shy", "you don't talk a lot, don't you?" The sheer awkwardness kills me.

I am aware I act awkward because I don't know what to talk about casually, leading to awkward silences. And even when I feel like I am actually having a nice convo I still get the "you must be shy" shit.

I'm suspicious of having some degree of autism, as that would explain a lot.

It could be the eyes anon. I had to train myself to actually look at people.

Then I had to train myself to look less because I was staring them down.

I say eyes because not looking at people makes you seem shy or worse, shifty, according to normies.

Also possibly self soothing movements or stances because if you're holding your arms or something you look a bit messed up.

Normies don't like silence because they start thinking and they really hate thinking. To make them comfortable you need to distract them with retarded stuff, small talk.

Also don't get to upset if they start lying about stuff, they can't help themselves, its a reflex.
