I'm thinking about moving to Santa Monica or West LA. I already live in So Cal. Is this a good idea? I currently live in the nice part of Orange County. I can't afford to rent an apartment here. What should I expect?

I live here (with my parents). Forget about trying to rent an apartment here, it's like $2500 for a studio. Also, it's very crowded and noisy here, imagine trying to go for a walk and there's constantly a clusterfuck of vehicle traffic and people near you everywhere you go, not to mention e-scooters, cyclists and delivery robots coming at you on the sidewalks. If you'd rather drive enjoy spending an hour getting from the beach to Westwood where you live in a shared room sublet.

The median age of your neighbors will drop by about 40 years and their politics wildly leftward (i.e. vaguely centrist)
