When my parents were young, HYPSM schools had like a 20% acceptance rate while now they're like 3%. U-M and UT were like 48% now they're like 15%. The standards only creep higher.

CS, EE, and accounting majors are flipping burgers. Rn you need like 3 IT certs to even just start out in help desk for 12/hr. If China's any glimpse into the future, we can expect rampant credential inflation everywhere, e.g. needing a Master's just to deliver pizzas. Can't think of any way to reverse this.

Short? Not strong? Un/underemployed due to the above? Anywhere below median middle class? Have fun staying single forever, even if you're decent looking. Only gets harder as time passes.

An apt in a good part of the city's like 2-3k+ a month. A 3 bd 2 ba house in a good suburb's like 900k+. Only gets pricier as time passes, and again, see the job and love stuff. Out of luck by 30? Live on MLK Blvd, live with mom, or worst case on the street.

1) if LCOL = applying to SWE/IT jobs in Columbus or Raleigh: you think those aren't competitive af too? Plus those areas are hardly actually LCOL, e.g. a house in a nice Ohio suburb could set you back $500k as opposed to $200k pre-2020.
2) if LCOL = applying to Walmart in Podunktown, Dakotas: how will you prove your readiness to relocate to the Podunktown Walmart's hiring manager? The average suburbanite precariat zoomer doesn't have family in Podunktown or anything, but somewhere like India or China instead.
