I don't go to church. Most churches are full of insincere pretenders that twist the scripture for their own benefit. I believe spirituality is a personal thing and that you can take the good ideas and concepts from all of them. I just think that if you had to pick one to live by you'd be best off with Christianity. (Specifically the teachings of Christ, not those who claim to speak for him. 10 Commandments are pretty good too imo)
All that shit I'm saying is biblical. In the Bible when it says "Have no other God before me" acknowledges that other gods exist. It also establishes that idolatry and graven images can become gods. In the Bible psychics and magic are stated to be wicked, not that they aren't real or don't exist. Psychic damage is real, you can be brainwashed and mindfucked into thinking, feeling, and believing all kinds of nasty shit. Spiritual ritual is strong enough to convince young Muslim men to strap on a C4 vest and walk into the market. Not just once, but thousands of times over the past few decades. Powerful psychological forces beyond our scientific understanding are clearly real.
Mostly though, scripture says "No God before me", not that you can't have other gods. Television can become your God, but that doesn't mean you can't watch TV. No different than how a Christian can observe other religions and Gods to see how their branch of spirituality can further the goals of the one above all others.
Lot of words, but basically if you pray or meditate over negative stuff it does bad things to your brain. Pray or meditate over positive stuff and it does good things for your brain. God doesn't even have to exist for this to be true.
