Should I reach out to an old friend after over a year?
Lost contact with a good friend about a year and a half ago after I lost my phone. I didn’t have his number saved anywhere else, and he was mostly on WhatsApp and a few other apps like Clash Royale. Lost access to all of those.
Just recently found out he made an Instagram, and now I’m debating whether or not to reach out. I’ve been thinking about it a lot, but I’m unsure how he’d take it after all this time. I’m worried he might think I ghosted him on purpose to end the friendship or that it would just be awkward.
His birthday is also coming up next month, which makes this feel even more awkward. Part of me thinks it might be a good opportunity to say something, like a casual “happy birthday” and start from there, but I also don’t want it to come off as weird or forced after disappearing for so long. Not sure if that would make things better or just highlight how long it’s been.
Would you want an old friend to hit you up after a long silence like that? Is it worth trying to reconnect or should I just leave it in the past?
