i think you should inspect whether or not you had proper boundaries between you and your mother when growing up, in general
whether anything sticks out as abnormal
might be a good place to start
could also get a therapist, don't go in and say "can you help me figure out why i have this desire?" but just talk about your childhood etc

I personally believe that it's more of a thing of the mother rather than the son, if the pareting goes in a way that doesn't acknowledge sexual desire when it appears (say, 11yo) it will create problems in the kids mind, and in top of that if there's a lack of awareness of the parents, it's a recipe for a twisted sexual behaviour that can go in many ways, atraction to the mother is one of them.
It's not a mental illness, or not necessarily, it's more of a thing of how you were raised.
