So I got cheated on by my now ex-girlfriend, and one thing that perplexes is why was she crying and so regretful when I decided to break up?

I thought our relationship was perfect - appearently it wasn't, so they decided to cheat, so why were they bawling their eyes out when I said I want to break up?

Isn't this what they wanted? Now they can fuck anyone they want at any time without remorse or risk, why are you crying that I am giving you that freedom?

Actually, horrible - it has already been a month and not a single day goes by without thinking "we could have been doing this together" as we did a lot of stuff together and basically shared each other's worlds.

Me longing for her has even affected sex as I couldn't get hard when I tried to have sex with someone. Atleast they were very understanding of my situation and we cuddled until we fall asleep.

My only copium is that something better awaits for me, but the chances of finding a perfect match (maybe not so perfect, ha) are really starting to look grim as I approach my 30s.

That is insane but understandable. She was probably crying because it would be hard for her to find a new man and realised her grave mistake was because she couldn't control her lusts. Guilt is a natural reaction but it's a terrible emotion if you let it destroy you. Nothing in life matters beyond being a good person, and even if these things show otherwise, they are far gone, they can't be brought back.

I did forgive her at first, maybe out of desperation to keep her (keep in mind I found out first, she didn't confess to me).
After explaining the situation to my parents and some of my close friends they unanimously agreed that I should immediately break up, which is what I did.
I do not want to be labeled as a cuck for the rest of my life.

There is no point in taking her back as I think the fully blind trust that I had in her is gone. It wouldn't be the same.

That's actually common and usually how these situations go. She probably does really like you, she's just impulsive so she fucked another dude and probably does regret it. However, she definitely would've done it again if you stayed with her, people like that almost never change.
