when I was in highschool, my family promised me an apartment as a future inheritance after I finish university.

finished university late, got a job, lived there for like 6 months after which I was fired. Parents kept visiting every 1-2 weeks to check if I was ok. After I got fired, they let me live back in their house.

The apartment needed renovations anyway, tried to fix a couple of things, but nothing major happened due to no job/money. Now my dad wants to steer the renovations, and wants to decide how the place will be arranged/look, despite me being against his ideas.

I'm still jobless. Should I just get a job in a different city and go no contact with my family? I'm starting to feel that my dad just doesn't want to give me the apartment.

In my country an apartment is rented not purchased or given. If you signed a lease with a landlord you have an apartment. I think the word you want is "condo" and that is just renting with extra steps because if you don't pay your condo association fees they repo the condo (just like an apartment...)
In my country you only "inherit" when someone dies. If you inherited something from your parents but they are rennovating it, they must be using a Ouija board or a seance to communicate from the land of the dead. I think the word you want is "gift". It is not yours and never was yours unless your name is on the deed.
If there's no jobs in your city, its kind of your duty to flee.
If there's no jobs for your major, its kind of your duty to either go back to school, start a new skilled-ish trades career, or just do minimum wage manual labor for the rest of your life.

Romania, and I'm not an LLM. Here house ownership rate is nearly 90%. Parents received this apartment for nearly nothing in the 90's. They took a loan and built a house.

Condos aren't really a thing here, only in some new apartment blocks, and they're nearly a scam. Apartments have their minuses as well (usually requiring repairs).

I guess it's a fair point that I should flee. However, I don't know how to act with my parents who basically gaslighted me for nearly 10 years that I'll receive this apartment and do what I want with it.
