Why shouldn't I just drop everything
I work a full time job but I don't earn enough money, have no prospects for career growth, can't afford another degree, and I'm just stuck. I'm seriously considering just giving up and living with my parents and helping them with their chores, cooking, and so on. The only thing stopping me is that I have a gf. Also, it really feels like society is just falling apart all around me so why does it even matter. At least this way I can read a bunch of books and hang out outside. Yes I'm a burnout. I'm in the US and 25.

Well I think it's okay to drop out and live with your parents for a bit, the goal would be to bounce back. So, maybe get an associates degree in smth profitable like electrical work or radiology while living with your parents. I do, however, that society is falling apart as a larger and larger portion of the population losing the ability to support themselves even when working

You can do whatever you want and then you gotta die. Why not do whatever you want?

I'm in a similar situation. I'm 28 and have been working a pretty souless job for the past 6.5 years , immediately following college graduation. This job is a 7 on 2 off rotating shift work , essentially putting me at 100 hour weeks rotating from 1st shift ,second shift, and 3rd shift . So for 6.5 years i have essentially no circadian rhythm. And the desire to just go home and be with my parents for a year is so enticing. However , im just going to take a less intense job with more time off and go back home as many times as i can per year. This plan allows me to progress my career while not obliterating myself.

I won't get thrown out. When they die i will inherit their assets and house and then I'll just work some shitty job i guess. That is, if society is even still standing or recognizable.

That sounds awful my friend. You do deserve a break. I think there is more to life than just work. Your health is much more important.
