You know how when you're walking somewhere and someone is approaching in the other direction, and when they see you, they immediately turn their head literally... LITERALLY... 90 degrees to the side in order to avoid making eye contact with you?

It's like they're pretending their head was like that before you saw them.

How do you even respond to that?

You don't respond. You just ignore it. They just don't want to talk to you, it's, like, whatever

you trip them. the appropriate retaliation for reducing their situational awareness to shun you is to exploit that lapse on a way they can't blame you for (because they can never prove it was your foot)

follow them for 30-60 seconds while screaming death grips lyrics at them
obviously

I want to piggy back off OPs question
So let's say you pass by someone you know, and you greet them normally. How do you address them if you pass by them again, during the same day? Would it be rude to ignore them? It would be awkward to greet them a second time, right?

If your eyes meet, you give the slightest possible head nod to acknowledge their existence as another human being and then you immediately look away.

don't. That's annoying. That person is trying to avoid communicating with you. you should leave them alone. what is wrong with you? Why do you need attention from that stranger?
