Can you actually permanently get rid of depression? I've struggled with having the will to get out of bed since I was 12. Has anyone here managed to get rid of it?

I don't know. I'm not sure I have depression myself. Depression is easily confused with mental disorders.

I struggle for good things, sometimes good things are lost and I have to live in depression again. I have been happy generally at various points of my life. I hope there will be more happy times, so I struggle for them.
but also try like warm drinks and doing stuff you like and walking near nature and stuff... also trying to make a tribe, but it is tough these days.

no. it's not actually a disease, it's like being gay before 1974, people are just so horrified that it's a normal way to be they have to pathologise it

I’m not a medical professional, so take this all with a hearty grain of salt.
What you described — hard time getting out of bed over a long period of time—sounds like a genuine case of genetically-rooted chemical imbalance. Or maybe your environment at that time changed and fucked up how you view your life (bullying, parents splitting up, etc.), thus leading to hopelessness and depression. Either way, try to see a psychiatrist or at least a GP.

So look, there is no “getting rid” of it. You will never be “normal” just like anyone else, or at least the way you view everyone else. But you can find purpose. Find purpose and let purpose drive you. Not every day is going to be sunshine rainbows. It’s a shitty deal, but that was the one dealt. Look for purpose. Let purpose give you a reason to wake up and live.
