Want to get Italian?
I just got a gift card for a favor I did a friend.
It's for Italian food.
Should I use this as an opportunity to ask a girl to dinner?
It would be nice to go get some good food.

I mean the hardest part is kinda waiting. Sure if you have someone lined up the idea is good, otherwise it's in the wrong order. Would be a good opener. Does it sound a little cheap? To some women maybe. Go for it champ.

I was worried it would sound cheap, or she would read too much into it being Italian.
Idk I have some background with her, just impossible to read between being friendly and actually being open to going out.

Unless said girl is your gf or an established fling, don't. Dinner is a terrible setting for getting to know someone, and even worse if you want to make out and get touchy. Don't waste in on that, dinners are for business meeting and to have a good time with people you already know.

It's also an Italian grocery if that moves the needle at all.

Nah. Take someone you know you will have a good time with.Do more active stuff with new women, going to a bar for beers or chilling in the park or something is already a world of difference.

Seems about right. A grocery date is just a lead into a cooking dinner date.

What is wrong with shopping then making dinner for a date?
Why can't OP do that?

Nothing, but if ist a first date I doubt shes going to be willing to go to OPs place right away. Worth a try perhaps but I think its too much.

True.

Ethnic grocery stores are fun as hell, but try an Asian market for a first go. You can get the little themed sodas and little saka bottles to take out on a walk or to a park or whatever.

>be foid
>my date pays with a gift card
>get the ick because this means he's not willing to indulge all my material desires and/or isn't rich enough to do so
If you decide to do this anyway, familiarise yourself with the wine list beforehand. If she chooses an expensive wine, leave the restaurant.

The first date I had for my most recent relationship was a visit to an indoor plant shop (because she liked indoor plants and I like gardening), then we got dinner then went to a wine bar and made out. The second date was dinner and we went back to her place for some below the belt fooling around, anf third date she came to mine for a candlelight homecooked dinner and we smashed.
The "no don't do X for a first date do Y" thing is retarded. Every woman is different, find out what she likes that you also like and make an activity focused around that the first date.

That all said, if this girl likes cooking or Italian food, I think shopping for ingredients then having a quick bite of spaghett' in the restaurant is probably a good idea.

Cool! Glad you had fun. How is your garden BTW?
