For background, I’m a 24-year-old Turkish woman. My husband is 29, Serbian. We live together in Serbia and have a small family.

We actually met when I was 19, studying in Belgrad as an Erasmus exchange student. We went to the same university, spent every day together and fell in love fast. He used to pick me up for class every morning and spend the whole day together. He was my first emotionally, sexually, everything. I even got baptized for him and left school to be a housewife. Eventually, we got married and had kids.

I was really close with his family too. His mom treated me as her own daughter , and we often cooked together and shared traditional recipes.

When we first started dating, we had this teasing, flirty thing that involved cultural jokes and racial slurs. We both made fun of each other’s backgrounds. He’d make jokes about Turks and I’d fire back with things about Serbian stereotypes. It felt like something private between us, something that somehow brought us closer.

But recently, I noticed something that’s been bothering me. I have his Instagram password (and he has mine). I was just scrolling through his account one day out of boredom, and I saw that he follows a LOT of far-right and nationalist pages “Save Europe,” “Byzantine revival,” anti-immigration content, that kind of thing.

And it really hit me. Like… this man, who married me, a Turkish woman and had children with me, follows pages that basically preach hate toward people like me?
I keep asking myself if he’s secretly ashamed of me, or if he just likes the “aesthetic” of those pages.

Part of me feels like I’m overreacting, like maybe I’m being too sensitive. But another part of me feels disrespected. I sacrificed so much for this relationship, my studies, my religion, my home country

Has anyone ever been in a situation like this? Am I overthinking it? Or is this something I should actually confront him about?

People compartmentalize pretty easily. It's a useful trait to have since if you spend all your time thinking in [tribal save Europa mode], you'll miss out on meeting the women you love, but if you spend all your time in [affectionate lover of a foreigner] mode, in a democratic society, you'll lose political self determination, and your society will no longer be yours. More likely, he just does that shit to relieve stress about his own tribe's political dispossession, and he's not taking it very seriously. In that case, it's harmless and you should just let it slide. You should only bring it up to him if you're afraid he doesn't respect you / doesn't consider you special.

If he's against non-christians immigrating then assuming you converted I don't see the issue. Or if it's a cultural compatibility thing he might consider some foreigners fine.

Although yeah there could be a problem if he's against brown immigrants depending on how brown you are. But different racists have different definitions of "white."

I'd try to figure out what exactly he means and how strongly he believes in it.
